The TROMMEL - a vital piece of my Gold Mine. Welcome to Episode 2 of #KZbinGold - This is a parody mini-series of the TV shows I enjoy very much, and the hobby of Radio Control. Yes, I am an RC fanatic. I have been collecting for years.. and know its over the top.. I get it. Hah! For the viewers that know, YES I do have an older model trommel but it is well used and the sun has taken its toll over the years, warping the main drum. I have searched the globe for a decent trommel, something that will help separate the pay dirt. It weighs approximately 40lbs.
It is being brought into the mine site by semi truck. It's a Ford AeroMax (Tamiya), powered by a brushless Tekin ROC412 Crawler Motor & RSX Gen 2 ESC. The 3 Speed truck transmission pulls this heavy load with ease. The trailer is an aluminum lowboy (vintage), and was Just Barely able to fit the load on.
The Crane is 100% hand made, and brazed by David G. It is a true piece of artwork..and it was the perfect tool for such a task. I had this crane made to pull heavy loads.. and just happened to have it handy for the gold mine. A great tool for such a heavy load. I was surprised we made it.
The Wheel Loader I use to collect the pay is an RC4WD Earth Mover 870K. It is a full hydraulic machine, that weighs in at a whopping 43lbs, and can move a lot of yards very quickly.. Just what I like! Get it here: bit.ly/2JCxPTo

Oh yeah.. the CAT Skid Steer is a Robotic Skid Steer.. and yes, I can operate the machine, inside or out! I'm an RC ADDiCT at heart!

@@cbpercy06 it would be good life experience for you but there are no accolades in the transport business young fella. The pay has increased since I went in back in 1993 for open deck/machinery hauling but if you go long haul one day, beware of the many cut throat companies who under bid loads & the Push to get loads to their destination sooner than your logs allow you. There are too many variables to mention both negative and positive, so do your research when you are legal age to take the training because it is nothing like past TV shows. Be the best you can be if you do it but get your education because you need to have an alternative if your driving career does not suit u after a few years. You may want work within the office instead, hence Education... Take care "Future Driver". 😎👌

I take it you haven't watched all the season of the show on Discovery. Every season they have an incident when moving heavy equipment/parts and the lowboy gets stuck going uphill. At times they have used a dozer to pull the lowboy but I think last year they actually used a Toyota truck (subliminal advertising) to pull the lowboy carrying a mind boggling amount of tonnage. But as I said the music, camera angles etc were on point just like the show. Keep it up, awesome idea.

Hmmm, Im actually LOWERiNG one side and raising the Grizzly bars my friend.. this way the edge I hit is removed - and the big rocks can fall off..

RCSparks Studio You might also try making a hydraulic grizzly bar ramp so you can keep the pay dirt going in, then raise one side of the bars to slide the rocks off, that way you don’t lose dirt when it gets trapped and slides off the bars with the bigger rocks. Just a suggestion from what I’ve seen in full-size mining. Great video, it’s Gold Rush RC style! 👍🤙

What about putting the grizzly at an angle to allow the bigger things to roll off, problem is you need to apply some sort of shaker or mover. Other option making some sort of tipper to tip the larger bits out, possible at the front where there seems to be a little room.

If you want the rocks to slide off put the grizzly at an angle so dirt falls through rock rolls off if you open the grizzly you run into problems with the auger

This setup is getting serious 😎. You could try removing one of the plates around the first screen and have the screen on an angle so the larger rocks just roll off or easy to sweep into a dump truck. Love it already

Are most brushless engines for new RC cars 12 volts and higher. I have a new E Revo VXL and I did not buy the Series connection only the parallel one for the batteries. I bought 2. Of each 7.4 volt and 2 of the 11.1 volt lipo's. Can the 2 batteries at 7.4 volts be put in series in the 1 /16 model.

I am thinking of building a trailer to carry my XRay XB8e 1/8 scale off road race buggy it will be towed behind my Yeti XL, so will need axles etc, any suggestions as to best source for axle and hubs etc. Many Thanks in advance if you have any suggestions

WOW you guys took my Eroctor Sets that I played with in the 60's to a whole new level. First thing I build that moved taking two cassette recorder motors out making a robot move back and froth was my main deal yea I was 10 years old then. LOL!
