People forget that KZbin is a business. Creators compete against other creators in a niche. Took me from 2019 to June 2024 to reach 1K subscribers and get monetized. Christ that's from age 52 to 57. September 2024 I had 1800 subs. I was over it 😂 I stop listening to creators because I began to think some important pieces to growth were missing. I took things into my own hands. My silver play button got approved last week. How did I gain more than 100K subs in 5 months after only reaching 1800 subs in 5 years? Read my first sentence above. When you understand that you will understand how to grow. ❤❤

I hate shorts. I never liked making them. I thought they were a waste of time. Funny thing happened: I began making shorts and my channel has seen an increase in views and subs. But, like you said, this is training the viewers to want more shorts. One of them got over 10K views in a short period. I don't know what to think anymore to be honest. I just feel do what you can and the key is having fun. When it becomes work you won't do it. Bring value to the viewer and be authentic. Using tricks, clickbait, and deceptive tactics will ruin you in time. Good luck everyone!

Agreed. If you got a good title, thumb and hook and your viewer makes it to 30 seconds, in their head, if you have a spot in your video after that that looses their interest a bit, their brain decides that they’ve already invested 30 seconds or longer and so they will rather take a sip of water while they give you a bit more time to regain their attention

I feel like I have pretty good thumbnails and titles but my CTR is like 2%. Do you think it’s the titles or the algorithm showing my stuff to the wrong people? I have unlisted videos from before working on trucks/tractors and kind of wonder if that has an effect on who my content is showed to.
@SportsTymeStories-h8x2 күн бұрын
I think it has far more to do with the Content. I post videos all the time that even before I post them, they will get very little views. Why, because most times it has to be something trending. I just went to your channel and I have followed the Automotive World literally for decades and nothing really caught my eye. The DeLorean Motor Company Story is old Hat and last thing I heard was about somebody maybe doing Electric DeLorean Models. The DeLorean Comes Back From The Past With The All-Electric Alpha5. Do you know much about the History of Turbine Cars and Chrysler plus some of the other Car Companies. That might be something to post a video about. I don't think all that many people know that story all that well. At the end of the day, nothing we do will matter if YT does not give us enough impression regardless of the Quality and likeability of our content.
@durh-m2 күн бұрын
@ I appreciate you taking the time to check out at least what I had going on, I don’t think most people know DeLorean worked and made his name at GM so I thought it was a neat story to tell. My biggest issue is I have 1500 different hobbies to talk about but history is the thing that connects them. Thanks to analytics I can see people actively searching for John DeLorean, but I’m just trying to figure out if I need to actually delete my old videos that received 2-3k views a piece.
@SportsTymeStories-h8x2 күн бұрын
@ I think the vast majority of those that start their own Car Company first started at the Big Three. 1500 different hobbies, that's insane. Also, the history who owned who. That's a crazy history also about the Automotive World. Best of Fortunes.

@ it’s an exaggeration, but I enjoy a lot of different hobbies lol. Best of luck to you as well!

I feel as though the gurus do talk some sense sometimes but whilst I enjoyed this video it was basically surface level talking about what others are doing wrong and why people should essentially listen to you which is the core philosophy that all the other gurus have where their methods are THE only methods to help people grow. It all feeds into the narrative of small channels desperate to grow and become successful and helps your very own KZbin page to grow or to upsell a course or product.

Great advice Hello just found your channel.For me having a simple thumbnail works,I have a simple yellow attractive text on my thumbnails for a clean consistent look Yes there are a lot of mis forming channels out there,putting use small channel creators off the scent. I jsut ignore all that stuff. . I create long form content and shorts .The shorts are very handy as it allows me time to create the long from content And offer the viewer a kind of teaser for the upcoming video I know I am catering for two audiences but my recent poll,shows that most like short form content too.

The HOOK is very Important. It should NOT be as important, but that seems to be the way the Human Mind Functions. So far, my research into doing Shorts has mirrored what you are saying. And here's the thing, it takes FAR longer to do Shorts for me then the Long Form. Irony Right. Plus YT give very little if anything for those efforts. And folks that don't do much editing don't even appreciate what those behind the scenes are actually doing. However I still believe doing Shorts for my Longer term goals is still an essential part of what I hope to do.

HOOKS! One thing about Shorts, I prefer long-form videos and my watch hours are better than my subscribes but the thing is that I get most of my subs from Shorts. So yes, I continue doing those. But also I see Shorts important when I share certain kind of info. For example this channel I’m commenting with is in travel niche. If I share a small important tip, I do it in Shorts, not inside a long video. I also use Shorts as some kind of trailers to drive traffic to my long videos. I know some people only watch either long or short videos but some people do watch both. From my audience about half of people watch both. I think the most important thing is to be consistent in uploading.

Hey hopefully you can answer this question. I get it on the shorts advice. But what if I wanted to blow up on shorts and long form. Is that a stretch and I should just pick one? Or is it possible?

way to go man! thanks for your inputs. Is cross posting to different social media platforms hurts my channel? ❤
@livevideoschoolКүн бұрын
It shouldn’t hurt it as long as you don’t share it

@livevideoschool thank you. Probably that's the reason why my views are getting lower and lower. I have to stop it now.

So is this the reason why I still can't be monetised because of my short form videos that i been doing for the past 5 years and changed probably around 5 different niches?

You miss the point that videos like yours that encourage creators to think they can blow up are always popular. Much, much harder with entertainment vids.

@livevideoschool On that I agree. I just wish someone could do a tutorial vid to help those of us doing entertainment ( in my case impressions) videos.

There was a period of time a couple of months ago that I really thought my little guitar nerd channel was gonna take off. Then all of a sudden my Shorts views just literally stopped. I mean literally ZERO views on videos. I done a livestream this weekend where I gained like 15 subscibers in that hour or so. I just don't have any idea how people make it on here. I really believe that gaining an audience on here is the equivalent of "getting signed" back in the day. People tell me I'm a good guitar player but I just don't have enough "techy" know how to really make an impact here I suppose. I'm just a regular dude that loves guitars more than life but I really think to be on youtube you have to really be a "producer" more than anything. I would be willing to try your advice about titles though. I just have always wondered how titles would help on a channel primarily trying to build on Shorts. I've almost got 1,000 subscribers now but I'll never get the watch hours to get monetized by Shorts. I just don't know when to transition to try and make longer videos. I would GREATLY appreciate help in this regard. Thank you for your content.

I like to scroll and see what catches my eye. What title- thumbnail, etc? What draws me in and then try to replicate it 😉 Thanks for sharing!! I agree! I like your videos because you are upbeat and have good energy. You also get to the point fairly quickly. I'm sure you could stretch the video on much longer if you wanted to.

The amount of videos I've watched on how to grow my channel. I followed them rigorously, yet nothing. I've resulted to just "if it happens, it happens attitude" lol
