Finally someone's talking about this in a video. I have been noticing this and other similar bot-related issues on this platform for a really long time and try to report as many as possible but I know it hardly makes any difference. Until KZbin decides to install better moderation features to remove the obvious bots, there isn't much we can do other than report as many as possible. As for those who comment with the sole purpose to divert viewers to their channels, they genuinely annoy me a lot because it's pretty clear that they bought subscribers when you check their upload history and the type of "content" that they upload. I love checking out smaller creators from time to time to support those who put hours into videos for little to no viewer retention and these people come along with their fat stacks, buy subscribers and then climb comment sections with the same comment posted over and over again. Most of the time they don't even bother watching the video. It's good that most people on KZbin however realize this and try to avoid such channels. As long the majority stays sane, KZbin will be alright.

We have different types of spam comments on our channel (as well as many of the same inappropriate ones you have pointed out). Some people bot song requests and likes (evident by the time posted and the consistent number of likes on requests that are patently obscure/unpopular). It's annoying because we used to be able to gauge what people wanted to hear from the comments, but we no longer can because of the spam. We even tried making some of the requests to see if there really was that much interest in some of these tracks... ...there was not. All the best man.

It'd be nice to get advice or leave feedback without having to deal with spam, or being buried in spam, or having to wade through the spam just to find a golden nugget of a comment. KZbin really needs to pull their finger out and do something about this bot issue instead of crippling important features such as practically disabling the dislike button and allowing scams to run rampant. Not to mention the horrid ads that keep popping up. They try to "appeal" to kids which use very inappropriate elements to (I'm guessing) get kids to click on them because they're censored and they're curious. I've been hit by these poser Friday night funkin, minecraft, and roblox ads. Not that I really look at them nor play them anymore, but they still slip through my ad personalization. Same with, like you said, fake Mr.Beast scams and "gambling" sites that have softcore porn right there. No kidding. I saw a gambling ad where they had a card sticking out of a cartoon girls arse, like, really?! I shouldn't have to be cautious about watching videos around my family due to these ads. KZbin needs to step up their moderation game.

I had about 17,000 pending "held in review" comments and a lot of them were bots (before YT started auto-purging held comments). It seems that a channel's size definitely depicts the types of bots that appear. Channels under 1M seem to get hit with similar kinds of bots, which are the ones you described with the uh, 'questionable' profile pics. I was able to remove about 99% of the bots on my channel but that's only because they all have similar elements to them and I figured out a combination of filters that worked. Being at your size though, I honestly don't know what can be done because the bots seem to evolve for the top channels but then they trickle down in different waves to smaller ones. I don't think it'd be hard to run a conditional branch for newly created accounts to check to see how often they are posting and if it is all the same post across different channels. Or to see if it is a new account + copying an existing comment. At that point their system should shadow ban the user to see if the comments persist. The problem is that bots post on all sorts of channels but each channel has to defend itself in different ways. If KZbin put the restrictions on the account itself by its own shady actions, then a lot less headache would be passed on to the creators to deal with.

Spammers/bots don't have a platform to reach a larger targeted audience over a content creator, who's in direct communication with their audience. KZbin will have many detectable scripts/programs in place to catch a large majority of these bots. But just like most things, there's going to be those that slip through the cracks. Just as with games that will always have bugs and cheaters.

I think the reason why KZbin hasn't handled this problem well is because companies and governments ask KZbin to allow their trolls to exist. Oppressive governments (which I will not name so I don't get reply bombed to the stone age) will have their social media team go into comment sections and argue their side. Because of this, you will see certain comments or comment sections full of people arguing the same thing when they are obviously a minority. And when companies don't like a person they try to drag their name through the mud using trolls they bought. Ahem: NORTH KOREA SUCKS ASS. Maybe that will trigger some.

I've blocked so many bot and spam accounts, bot sentences and certain words, but they're constantly making new ones with small variations on their account names. The problem is that the responses are reactive, not preventative. This is why a lot of the bot spam has switched over to using that "glitch" text with the odd little angles coming off the characters, making it harder for text recognition to tell that it is the same message but just more messed up. Once that finally eventually gets figured out, the bot programmers will just move on to the next trick to bypass what little work KZbin is willing to do.

If I made an app myself and the whole world used it I would make sure it’s top notch best experience and do my hardest work for everyone to enjoy AND WHATS REALLY DUMB is the fact that KZbin babies all these channels as if these children should be protected. It’s the parents’ fault for letting their kids have the internet. “KZbin kids” was LITERALLY made for this purpose. Don’t give your 9 year old boy an iPad and then complain about these creators saying the F word when he shouldn’t even have KZbin in the first place. Like honestly this entire system has just become a crap show and KZbin tryna be like all these other apps with their “shorts”. I still hate it because I work hard for these thumbnails and then it becomes a KZbin short and the thumbnail is gone 🤦🏻I really hope everyone has rage reviewed to them because this is just vile. Letting these sexual bots everywhere?? Like I don’t need to be harassed virtually. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THEY DISRESPECT YOUR FATHER- holy freaking crap everything is bad. Nobody should be talking bad about someone’s family member dying. What a horrendous thing to do. I’m probably more furious than these creators and I’m not even a big creator 😑I want to interact with other people but nope. These bots make life miserable. At this point I would just turn off commenting for a little while until it dies down cuz I have no idea what else to do

I rarely comment because I'm naturally just a lurker at heart, but after this video, I realized that the reasons you listed _are exactly the reason why_ I never really commented. Fellow lurker here! I hardly ever comment either for similar reasons. Though I've been around this channel since the days Sean actually read and replied to nearly every comment, because back then he only had 1k or so comments to go through, and most of them were perfectly nice and wholesome. And man, were those the days. The comment section nowadays is a total sh*tshow, especially in the first couple hours, and it feels nearly impossible to wade through the crap in order to *potentially* get the *opportunity* to have your comment be read. Feels so disheartening for those of us that actually have something of substance to say.
