I've converted my channel from a fitness/workouts channel to a personal storytelling vlog that will basically be a personal archive for my children to hear all the stories I've never had a chance to tell them. Not getting any views at all but finally at a place of not caring and just doing it cause it's fun. love this channel and wish you were getting a million views for every video. keep your head up nate.

Always saw it like this: just because others are doing it, doesn't mean you couldn't add your own spin to it, your own thoughts and perspectives. It's like the two cakes example. One might look like a massive better cake and yours is smaller and seemingly less impressive, but the viewer is just happy there are two cakes.

I don’t really know which video to put this on! I may send a letter or an email or something someday because you have been SOOO helpful in my journey last year starting my KZbin! So many of the things I have changed( more corrected) because of your content! Like explaining things with as few words as possible, eliminating redundancy, SECONDS TO VALUE** is a MAJOR help for my content! Therefore, I’m basically saying that I’m extremely grateful, because your content continues to help guide decisions and I’m having a great time growing my ORGANIC** audience! Hi Nate happy 2025. A healthy niche ( pronounced with a french accent) is always going to have competition. If your on your own then that's a clue as to how popular a subject is. So as you say 'be unique in your popular niche' - that's niche not pronounced like itch. Now I'm off to scratch that itch in my niche.

Makes sense to me, I've learned so much by deeply studying others in my niche, learning from them, what they do better than me, what I do better than them. And pay attention to your own outliers! Sometimes something will pop off and your really need to figure out why so you can repeat that success - my niche is long-form atmosopheric videogame work sleep study ambience, and by just continually, patiently improving every little bit over time I'm slowly growing an audience. And the fact that I'm doing this for myself first of all means I'll here doing this long-term - I think that's something that can get missed in these conversations. If you just chance a niche for its own sake you risk burning out on it.

Howdy Nate, love ur videos, I am learning so much ♥️ I would really like to se a video about "being/staying safe" as a content creator. I am not talking about handling mean comments n such, but actually staying safe from harm of others. Mabey talking w content creators of more targeted groups about their experience (stalking, threatening behavior at meat ups etc) n what steps to take to stay as safe as possible. I, personally, am interested in the female content creator side of things. Keep up the good work! ♥️

My niche is dominated by 20 channels (my competitors) and 12 of them come from the same company. My channel is 50% like them, except they use 1 visual picture while I use 10-30 visual art. They get thousands of views with zero to 3 comments, and I may get 100 views with 10-20 comments. My niche is unpredictable because music is emotional and emotions change throughout the day. One thing I have noticed in a trend is my competitors views have drastically decreased as well in the last 6 months as mine has too. I feel they oversaturated the niche making repeatable videos over and over again 7 days a week and viewers are bored. So, hopefully their viewers will discover my channel someday and say my channel is different and better than theirs. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Another great video! My broad niche is movie reviews and entertainment commentary but I’m doing it from the perspective of someone who studied film production and media. So what do you do when you’re passionate about a lot of things? For example: I bounce around from things that I’m passionate about. It’s never linear. At this point I’ve got 3 channels, one for my cats (because I have 6) one for homemaking/cooking/vlogs and another for makeup & beauty. What would you tell someone who can’t seem to be passionate about one thing enough to make a channel, I seem to get bored of things quickly. One thing I’m passionate about now is bakinf and recipes. But give me a few months, I’ll probably get sick of it.

Been really enjoying these videos. They’ve been very helpful in early stages of my channel and trying to plan out where do I want to go. I’ve really tried to hit YT hard the last month or so, and have gained about ~500 subscribers (a majority of my audience). My niche is pipe smoking, but even in some ways I think it might be a little too niche, and would like to broaden it to include cigars as well. I’m curious as to what exactly constitutes a niche. How broad/specific does a channel need to be in order to fall into something.

Have been deeply studying others in my niches, learning over the years and folks have always been adding their own spin to it, their own thoughts and perspectives. Nothing new under the Sun concerning that. I don't compare them to my own channel, I compare them to Channels that have actual hit the Major YT Milestones. Since comparing to a TINY channel, well a person isn't really going to see nearly the same type of REAL information that most won't actually see. Then get in relationships with those channels which drives homes all your conclusions. So KZbin really has not change.

Hey Nate, I really enjoyed your video! I do have a question-in your opinion, do you think running KZbin ads on some, but not all, of your content could be detrimental? I work in marketing for a Canadian real estate broker, and we've seen some decent growth, gaining about 100 subscribers in just a few months. However, I'm still trying to learn more about KZbin while also focusing on growing the company in other ways. Do you think running paid ads might hurt the channel because the views aren't organic? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Looking forward to your next video! Thank you!

Is there a way to see retention data on other creators to compare how well they REALLY did? Personally I've seen videos get clicks and so therefore the view count goes out, but it's not grabbing audience or holding attention at all, so more of a clickbait/dud. I'd hop on valeo or something else if that existed. View count is a surface-level metric.

(70% narrated 30% clips) and not just a video about me doing a mario but every jump makes you faster (no story telling) Example of my Interactive community gaming challenges niche would be: I forced 1000 people to play Mario party (People = Viewers)
