Similar thing happened in the phone version as well, earlier when I minimize a video within the app, it used to compress the video into rectangular bar in the bottom. But now it's wierd square which does not definitely meet my muscle memory and I also have to use my eyes and brain to search where is the maximize button is.

Congrats, You get to beta test without any opt out option. You're not missing much. Too many great comments are scrubbed by #CensorTube. It makes conversation nearly impossible on the platform.

I actually do type comments out while watching the video... I'll agree that having so little space for long comments is worse and the fact that recommended uses ALL that space previously reserved for comments sucks. I've not used Google docs in years thank god

This is the 4th or 5th time in the last year I've been forced to have this horrible UI. Just got forced to use it like 5 mins ago. I don't understand why specifically my account keeps getting flagged to use it. I've had to save filters to use in a chrome extension to simulate the "old" layout, but it has a few bugs so it's kind of annoying to use. Why can't they force someone else to use it in my stead? Why is it always me? It's actually pissing me off.

No, there is an arrow on the right side. If you watch this video carefully, you see it changing direction for the case the menue is visible or not. Google just changed the default here. Click it or use the shortcut (shows for me as Ctrl+Shift+F) and the former appearence is back. THIS is a harmless change. The intention is clear on available space on the monitor. It might even be something that has a changeable default, I did not bother to check this as well. The youtube changes are what worries me.

I do like to read comments while watching the video, and that part of the change does make sense to me, but not the huge video listings at the bottom. As for Docs, you should be able to get the top part of the bar back if you click on the rightmost dropdown button on the blue bar, you probably pressed it before to hide the menus (which I'm not sure why that option even exists). If you look at the comments view on the side it's almost taken exactly from mobile, which makes me think they just want to make the desktop version of KZbin to just be a bigger version of mobile, which really sucks.

I guess, this change will virtually trim lengthier comments. I don't like it. I like Wikipedia's approach: choose whatever formatting you like and be happy.

It already went back normal in my case. I recommend you don't click on any of the recommended videos and instead only click on videos from your homepage. That way they'll get the message that this UI doesn't work

What's revealing about KZbin is their unhealthy obsession with making money, you can be watching highly important videos on physics, maths, politics, education, health, mental health, better parenting, diet, nutrition, and they try put ads in front of you every couple of minutes, they are pathologically, obsessed with money. they should seek help.

The co-loading nature of vid reccs and comments mean they can't track what you're paying attention to as easily. It all boils down to control over what they're presenting, and collecting information about how it's presented to you.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I actually like the KZbin ui change. I often read comments while watching the video and now its easier. The best outcome would be to let us choose which ui version you want but that's probably not gonna happen sadly
