If we want to be super honest here: it's regulation. You have to verifiably demonstrate, if you're doing it on your own, that you can meet specific standards to claim a device is a certain type of waterproof. Otherwise they can, and would, just claim it's, "100% water proof!" Despite perhaps only spritzing it with a spray bottle. If they didn't do it on their own, they'd have to ship products out of house each time for external testing which would cost more, as well. These things are there for us, the consumer, even if it looks super ridiculous. The body of testing done to meet specific consumer standards (e.g. FCC wireless communication interference standards, or waterproofing, like here) is expansive and ridiculous looking from the outside. But is highly controlled so that _we_ don't get screwed. Or, if we do, we can take them to task over false standard labels. (Not that I have a desire to defend Apple, but they're just following legal precedents. At least, that they're willing to showcase they might be doing lol.)

I mean, of course. In what world is having to replace an entire board for what could have been a replaceable part "durable"? "Oh, yeah, we can fix that, you're just going to have to replace the entire board". It's like calling car durable but when the starter dies, you gotta replace the motor and transmission. The idea behind durability is not just so that it can withstand damage or wear. It means that cheaper repair costs and more accessible replacement parts and solutions. Single points of system failure are the opposite of repairable. Apple would unironically defend the durability of the Death Star after having the X-wing shoot a tiny laser into an exhaust port, blowing the whole thing up; "well, we could armour the exhaust port, but we think different. Jobs was the one that started the Apple Culture of closed ecosystems, "we know better than you." and "steal other's ideas and claim them as your own". Apple is Jobs from top to the now very low bottom. The name "Apple" stolen from The Beatles. iTunes violated the agreement with the Beatles to never get into the music business. Degraded drivers in BootCamp so Window performance was compromised. Glued batteries. Slow the CPU if aftermarket batteries were installed. All while Jobs was in charge. iPods, smartphones, tablets, music services - all other peoples ideas. Even the "new" MacOS UI is a rip off of Windows Vista right down to "widgets", rounded corners and pastel colors. M processors - ARM. Jobs was gas-lighter in chief. That culture continues to this day.

I'll never buy a single new Apple product. I'll probably never buy an old one that's post-2015.
@BrokeBword6 ай бұрын
I like Marques but his last take on apple is obviously propaganda. I don't use apple products but i used to work to a company where i had no choice but to use them. It can't be denied that their products are user friendly, but is it really worth it spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of euros to have some standalone features that you can do without but sacrifice the basic ones or even spend more money to have them? I think the take about reparability is also bogus, if an apple product has an accident, if reparable, it costs a lot of money and when it isn't you'll have the added headache to buy a new one. Apple has built this image of being a product of 'quality' and in my country where the average wage is more or less the same as price a refurbished iphone 14, there's even some elitism. People who own apple products, believe they have the best product because it's the most expensive and has the label 'apple', even though it's overly expensive and you can find other labels who do more or less the same for cheap. Very disappointed by Marques but really not surprised, most youtubers will forget morals as long as money is on the table.

Lous is right. And this right here 1:30 is completely false, You can actually have both if the design is good and properly planned. i own a laptop from 2011 and i can upgrade it to 16gb ram with an I7(Still good today), i can add extra hdd,'s i can fix it, i can still use it issue free and i can shoot it and still get replacement parts to fix it. it haves both durability and repairability and it is designed correctly. and paper thin laptops isn't a smart idea due to bad cpu cooling and less space for larger battery and other extra's. Plus my laptop looks like its from the early 2000s and that is a good thing since it is less likely to be seen as worthy to steal. 3:34 "technology has progressed too much for that" Nope! im sorry i don't agree to that
