Problem was i went to school, focused on school, completely forgot about the video, and only went on your channel because i wanted to rewatch the videos about people not saying anything. Since i only found the video again accidentally, maybe a large portion of your viewers just forgot about the video, as it only appears in the subbox when it was uploaded, it doesnt appear again when it premieres. I actually got the video in my subscriptions twice. Once when it uploaded, looking like a scheduled stream, and again when it premiered. I think the main reason the video got less views, because I noticed this when I went to watch it the next day, was that in your sub feed it stays in where it was premiered not when its watchable. So I had to scroll down to my "yesterday" portion of the sub feed to actually find, I assume others missed the video entirely for that exact reason.

I think you should reupload it. I think a lot of people that would have watched it, just got sent to the premier and then never actually watched it. I think that more people will watch it if you reupload it.
@cloakedsniper50166 жыл бұрын
I think the reason why the video get less views is because we kept on seeing the thumbnail over and over again until it simply lost it's shock value. The way a thumbnail works is that it has a catchy picture/title, you see it, get hooked and almost instinctually click on it. When enough time has passed and clicking on it just doesn't work, then when it finally is out, there is not only the lack of the shock incentive, but we might actually be a little bored from the title already from having seen it so many times. This is just my theory, I am not using any psychological data to make this claim except for what my own intuition, and understanding of how I as a user operate.

When I saw the premier, much like everyone else, I thought it was the video. I made a mental note of the time it's come up, but then when it came up, it felt vaguely like I'd already clicked it. The premier blew my emotional load prematurely, so to speak, so I just saw this video I'd gotten excited about a day before and just glossed it over for far longer than I otherwise would have.

I'm not really a fan of the premier system either. Seeing a video in my inbox that I can't watch makes me remember it less when it actually is published often because I remember seeing the video thumbnail before and just assume that I've already watched it since reuploads are common.

A good solution could be to have a small header in the notification tab that lists premiering videos, but without notifications. This way, if you check KZbin you know what is coming and you can build up hype, but it's not going to actively disturb your day. That would be useful for series that post regularly, as a kind of schedule of what's coming (eg. Gaming videos)

I'll give my anecdote about why I'm not interested in the Premiere feature. I go to KZbin to watch a video when I'm bored. If I see an upcoming premiere, I'm not going to set a mental reminder to check it out later. Of course I could click the "remind me" thing, but the sentiment is the same. I want to watch a video NOW. It's why I watched your video the next time I stumbled onto KZbin for another watching session instead of whenever the premiere date was. It's not a knock against you saying that I wouldn't want to show up to a premiere. That's just not how I use KZbin. Maybe that's just me, but I feel like some other people use KZbin the same way.

In the case that the chat function was actually used during the premiere, it could potentially be interesting to read other people's opinions and conversations about the video documented in the chat. However, as I write this I realise that this is already the function of YT comments (which are also clearer arranged for being read as they are not layed over the video, and since the implementation of threads automatically seperate conversations, making them easier to follow).

And so I forgot that the video existed an moved on with my life unaware that I missed a video and I don't get/follow notifications from KZbin, I rely on manually checking my subscription feed.

I can understand the point of the Premieres, and can see the ways in which they can be a benefit (for example, with the super chat, I've seen a few premieres where people have managed to make a fair amount from it, though it's usually bigger channels), but at the same time, it feels like KZbin's trying to fix a problem by not, fixing the problem: People's videos not being sent to their subscriber's subscriptions feeds, or even their notifications, in some cases. Instead of trying to sort that out they essentially just gave us an option to abuse their livestream features JUST so that people know someone uploaded. They're adding extra layers of nuisance to a situation whose simplest solution is being completely ignored (unless there's a coding thing that makes it incredibly difficult to fix it without screwing everything else up, in which case, fair enough, but still).

I caught the premiere halfway through, had to rewind it and ignore the live comments. Live streams are popular because you can contribute to the video in real time. A live chatroom is unnecessary and distracting for a fully edited 13 minute video, there's no downtime to fill. Instead of a re-upload, I'd suggest adding one of those previous video links at the end of the next video in the same frames you usually save to credit clips/music sources used. I see them at the end of many review focused channels, they're a good suggestion to new viewers to check out your portfolio.

The feature needs 2 tweaks to be decent: 1. Instead of having the videos in the sub box, have it on a separate tab similar to creator blog posts so we can see if a creator has a video coming up voluntarily or not look at all if we want. 2. Let us pick whether we want notifications for premiers, uploads or both. But hey, when has KZbin ever not used the platform as itself as a beta, instead of just asking creators?

I believe the only way to use the Premier system correctly ist to use it for an episodic video format, like let's plays and series with multi-episodes in a season. That, I believe, would clearly justify the feature...if only they knew how to use it for. This wouldn't work for videos being written and recorded in real time like yours, since you don't necessarily do multiple videos in at given time frame.
@mystery59066 жыл бұрын
i thought the premiere feature was for the “channel members” so they could watch it before everyone else as an incentive to become a member. but apparently, it literally JUST tells you that a video has been made, is completely ready, and is for all intents and purposes on youtube... but i still cant watch it yet? thats just dissapointing. the point if hyping things up on tv is because while, yes, a “video” comes on at a certain time on tv, its only there at that time unless you choose to record it. they cant just play that one episode over and over of course, because there are other episodes and other shows that they need to air. all of this is obvious (-one could even say its self evident-), but it just helps to really send home the point that youtube has no idea what theyre doing with these new features. if a channel wanted to build up hype, they could send out a channel post, and people would still see it and get hyped. both situations are the exact same, knowing about the video and then being able to watch it later, but even if the video is ready when the channel post comes out, the difference is that with premiere, the video has already been uploaded, but im being prevented from seeing it. maybe that says more about how i (and others on the internet) are too impatient for our own good; after all, if we were waiting for a tv show to come on, it would be about the same situation, but the fact that its youtube makes it different. youtube is supposed to be a platform where you can watch any video, any time. its not like twitch or (to an extent) television, which are streaming services. like you say in the video, it just seems like a step backwards. who was this supposed to appeal to? youtube needs to get their act together. *edit: gosh dang typos

I think it could work if it's a bigger project, although the thought that you've finished a video and are just teasing us for another day might not go over well. I did not see this video in my subscription feed. I just checked, and it still isn't there. If you hadn't made this follow-up I never would have known I had missed a video. That isn't an argument against the premise of the feature, but it means that either the uploading UI is confusing and you made a mistake, or there is a bug/poorly designed element with this feature. Either way, the data you have now might not reflect the best potential use of this feature. I still don't think you should use it, but it might be worth conducting the experiment again if you can get that sorted out.
