You're not wrong, but i dont think its about convincing others. Its about honesty. Emotional honesty. You can pretend to be Henry Fonda, take up his 'strategy' to win an argument, but the honest truth is we are all Henry Fonda. We simply dont know anything. I think we truly can not know anything outside of ourselves. And most of us don't know or want to know ourselves. Which i think makes it impossible to discern the truth from a lie because we dont want to see the truth, we want to be right. It stops us from thinking critically.

I feel like you viewed the film completely differently than I did. I didn't see antagonist and protagonist. I saw a man who had doubts about sending someone to die without being sure. I would say that none of them are convinced that the defendant is not guilty. And that is the reason they don't vote guilty in the end. Which doesn't mean he is not guilty in their eyes. There is a big chance that the boy is not guilty and that is the reason alone to not send him to die. I think this played a big role. In the movie it is mentioned several times that defendant is just a kid and sending him to death chair without being sure can't happen. They don't think he is guilty the just doubt it. But they don't have the choice "doubt" in that situation.

I've commented on this video a few times over the years, but this time I've done something different. I re-watched some of your other videos. You know how sometimes you remember things as better than they are, and when you re-experience them they aren't as good as you remember? I had the opposite reaction. Your channel is a fucking monolith on this website. They have excellent content, they're unbiased, well researched with interesting visuals and no censoring to appease some algorithm god. I know your channel existed during a time when KZbin was different, regularly called the "golden age" of KZbin, so maybe your videos wouldn't work in today's era. However, I have to say I think the world needs your videos now more than ever. Bad arguments are used more commonly than I've ever seen, and I really think that your content has the chance to combat some of the misinformation and illogical arguments that circle endlessly in our headlines. And I hope you know that if you ever did pull a Grade-A under A and randomly restarted your channel, you'll catch me on your Patreon as the first subscriber. I'm glad I gave them another watch, and I look forward to watching more of them in the coming weeks. You've re-solidified your position as my favorite KZbinr all these years later. It was a good run. I really hope that you giving up your channel has given you the fulfilment and happiness that you were seeking. I wish you all the best. Have a good 2025, Counter Arguments.

If you dislike or hold specific ideas about someone based simply on the colour of their skin, you’re a racist. End of. No amount of mental gymnastics is going to help you avoid the label of ‘racist’ if your actions and beliefs meet the definition of the term, regardless of the colour of your skin lol. If that’s what you believe, that’s what you are.

I can see why the death penalty was abolished in the UK, because it was seen as necessary in the early 20th century and most executed victims were guilty anyway, but then WW2 happened and Britain suddenly became hang-happy to get rid of the hundreds of Nazis that needed stringing up, but then the justice system got sloppy and started sentencing innocents like Timothy Evans and Derek Bentley to death, and then the mentally-abused and vulnerable people like Ruth Ellis, because they just didn't care about mental health but the British public did, so they railed against the rope. It's ironic, really, because a year after abolition, the Moors Murderers were sentenced and would've gotten true justice if only they'd waited. So the death penalty is necessary, just make sure the cases are properly and fully investigated first.

"If there ever is a day where black people are more powerful than white" 8 years later and we are there! Black people have the institutional support to be as racist as they want have all the insentives for jobs and educationthat white people are getting turned down, because of the color of their skin. According to this modified definition of racism black people can absolutely be racist.

To know what some words mean in our day concerning the US constitution and Bill of rights, then one must go back to the dictionary's of early founding US history to find meanings of proper ideas that are used in writing the US constitution. The word appearing in the US constitutional founding of the early US nation, concerning the word, establishment as written is in in early US history is found in meaning, as being forever: A US government Christian establishment in the US constitutional US early bill of rights. This is what it means: - The US Congress shall make no law respecting [create by law] an establishment of gov created national government Christian religion, or US gov prohibiting the free Christian citizen exercise thereof the American citizen Christian religion; or making no US government laws abridging the freedom of Christian religion American speech, or US government infringing upon the citizen Christiasn publishing press; or the gov infringing on the liberty object compact fundamental right of the citizen people to redress gov peaceably as the people to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances concerning gov infringing on any part / parts of the US bill of rights. - 12 24 2024 rdw - -

Three counter-points: 1. Money makes it harder for a candidate to win an election, but not impossible. If a terible candidate (clown or puppet) runs against a great candidate, it's still about the votes, and people will make up their minds on their own. Money only gives an advantage, it doesn't guarantee succes, and the reason we see so much money invested in a campain is people tryin to insanely outspend each other for that extra edge. So, basically, money has only a limited effect. 2. Not eveything that the majority of people want is good for said people. The rules themselves need coherence, and some expertise infused in the system is in order. So, in order to protect the system itself, let's say from popular mediocre candidates which would implement unconstitutional policies, some anti-democratic beaks are needed. And since we don't have experts who can decide who are the "good candidates", tthen people with money, who have some vested interest in protecting the country which has given them so much are as good as any other experts at deciding who gets to run and have good chances of winning. And the whole argument is based on the notion that money is actually a popular concept in the United States, and rich people are popular celebrities, so it's hard to find something more democratic than money=votes.

If Rose had stayed on the lifeboat, Rose would have probably killed herself if Jack didn't survive(he didn't give her the pep talk, and maybe even if he did but before she realized), and Jack's survival in that case is much less than guaranteed. (He would probably give up the door for some other person in that scenario)

One can celebrate (or not, atheists) Christmas. Christian Christmas (Jesus b-day?), Secular Christmas (Santa) and pagan Christmas (Winter Solstice), Festivus for the rest of us. Who's fighting a war on Christmas? Traditions are for the individual to follow, and everyone is different. Maybe churches can decorate their own mangers in a public display on their own property. Anyway, nobody knows when Jesus was born exactly. It's never mentioned in the Bible.
