The fact is Stevin John knows he can't be Blippi forever. He's eventually going to become an old man, the character Blippi has grown beyond Stevin John. Blippi is no longer just one person and has evolved into something so fun and exciting for kids. The guy that is currently playing Blippi Clayton Grimm, is a fabulous Blippi and at the live concert I never heard one kid say "That is not Blippi". He sounds almost just like him, acts like him, and the whole show was fantastic. It's time people realize that Blippi is not just one person anymore and the creator Stevin John has to change the way Blippi works, so the character is around long after John is gone.

I’m 24 and I spend M-F with my 2 year old niece and she loves Blippi. We watch at least 2 Blippi videos a day. Until this news story showed up in my recommended, I never once noticed that Blippi was played by 2 different people. So if I, a 24 year old adult didn’t notice, then I don’t think kids will. And personally I don’t think it matters because regardless, the character brings my niece a lot of joy

My parents knew about it, but they didn’t tell me when I was watching the show, because I was a kid and didn’t need to know that a character that made me laugh had committed a huge crime in his past. I eventually found out about it as an adult. An adult that can comprehend what he did and realize that what he did was wrong. Blippi/Stevin John realized the mistake he made as a young adult and regrets it. He publicly has shown that he wants to move on from it, and the kids who watch him really don’t need to know about what he did because it’ll just ruin the funny and friendly image they have of him. Sure, my niece might find out about it later, but for right now, she’s a 2 year old toddler and I’m gonna let her enjoy what she wants to enjoy

Well a Cher concert is to hear Cher sing. So the comparison isn’t fair. Blippi’s a character; it’s not a Stevin John musical. My kids still had a blast at the show; it wouldn’t have made a huge difference if Stevin or Clayton were playing Blippi; we could hardly even see his face anyway, lol. And Clayton Grimm is amazing as Blippi. I understand the disappointment some may feel but I understand why Stevin would make that choice too. Support the cast (live shows with that much dancing and high energy is exhausting; they’re giving all they can to entertain your kid), teach your kids that in live shows characters can be played by multiple people. Have fun. 🙂

But that leverage will cost him in his brand integrity, as such as this bad publicity etc etc. Stevin created blippi himself and he's the only one who has ever portrayed blippi in his KZbin videos, there is no doubt a more genuine performance would have been produced, selling far more tickets if he did them himself. Edit: your movie characters changed actors due to their age and them not fitting the part anymore, not due to wanting to leverage their own time.

How can you say it wouldn't have been a more genuine live experience if he, himself played blippi just like in ALL his videos, and everything he's ever done.. opposed to using an actor, which no-one has had any exposure to until the night of the show, I know there were many bozo the clown franchises which obviously couldn't have grown to what it did with only 1 actor. That business model is different than blippys though, bozo didn't start off on KZbin. Blippy is still 1 operation, then you look at guys like the Wiggles, much bigger than blippi who still don't hire actors and are killing it. Fact is stevin has removed apart of what blippi was in order for growth. His business, his call, and it's resulted in negative publicity like this video.

It wasn't true for me when I was a kid. I loved going to Wiggles concerts every year! When I didn't get to go when I was 8 years old, I was very disappointed. Some kids get hyper-fixated on something they are a fan of without it being a phase. I'm 22 now, and I still have all my Wiggles merchandise. I've actually been rediscovering each piece of the collection for the past few years now. Each time I find any Wiggles thing, I put it in a box with the rest of the collection. It's super nostalgic, which is one of the reasons I'm happy I still have all those things. I plan to show all that Wiggles merchandise, DVDs, and VHS tapes to my future children.

Blippi sold his company and channel, and retired with millions of dollars. Congrats to him. He has a right to retire early with his wealth. What the new company chooses to do after is up to them to find a replacement character. Their faces are not identical, it's very obvious. Parents shouldn't be upset even if it is a new character.
