Atarashii Gakko (New School in Japanese) is one of my favourite jpop groups. Their music is very tongue in cheek & contains sometimes not so subtle social commentary. They write their own music, do their own choreography & help plan their own music videos.

Yeah they are my new favorite find...I absolutely loved this music video!

Excellent and accurate observations, but just a little clarification, which isn't intended to minimize their talent and contributions. It's just me being anal. They have written lyrics on a few songs, and have collaborated with others, especially Money Mark. But a lot is fully written by producers who regularly work with them (Yonky, H Zett M, Kenta Matsukuma, etc.). And all the music accompanying the lyrics is written by the producers, though they might contribute ideas and sounds, like they did with Money Mark when creating the Snacktime EP during their California stay a few years ago. Regardless, they are super talented and continue to grow creatively, as they've been doing for 8 years, since they formed as young teens.

The best AG videos are their dance practice videos, because it shows off their unusual and energetic choreography. Though from a videographer perspective, "Koi Geba" (love revolt) would be a good one. After that "Pineapple Kryptonite" is cheesy but still entertaining. Then maybe "Night Before the Exam" for a single take video.

Agree with your suggestions, Koi Geba is a different vibe and a total banger.

No idea who these are but great, catchy tune but I'm with you this video is fire.🔥🔥🔥🔥 The concept, how it was shot with the model city and the dance choreography was all executed so well, absolutely love this.❤

Not only was it just scale models, but they set them up on the roof of a medium sized building, so that the sky and background buildings and birds are real.

They’re truly genre bending and usually have a touch of jazz in their performances.

I just looks like they look the model set outside to shoot on a nice day and knew how and when to line up the sun to get those shots. It even allows you to get the parallax shots with real buildings in the far background. The Beasties influence is obviously on full display here. They have been working with BB collaborator Money Mark lately, but I'm not sure if he's producing on this track specially.

"Kosei ya Jiyuu de Hamidashiteiku". ("With individuality and freedom, I'm gonna stick out".) Atarashii Gakkou no Leaders (New School Leaders) began in 2015. They've been known internationally as "ATARASHII GAKKO!" (New School) since they signed with 88rising in early 2021. That's when I first started hearing about them. The single for 'NAINAINAI' was their worldwide debut. They are Suzuka, Kanon, Rin and Mizyu. Many of their older songs have a Jazz fusion feel, especially the tracks created with H ZETTRIO. There's been more of a Hip-Hop influence on some of the more recent songs. The EP, 'SNACKTIME' was produced by Money Mark, best known for his work with The Beastie Boys. You should definitely check out 'Pineapple Kryptonite', one of the singles from that EP. Although Suzuka is the main (lead) singer, they do have songs featuring the other members singing lead.

Atarashi gakko no leaders that’s how they call them in Japan which means “New school leaders “ but as is kinda large name for outside Japan they shortened and kinda means different but it was great idea at the end this group is super loved in Japan as they are not like any other girls group in Japan these days or in the part they reflect the new Japan youth

They design their own choreo and do these same moves live, more or less. Like go see them on Kimmel or on tour. But on tour, what Suzuka (the lead) does is she spawns somewhere in the middle of the floor and crowdsurfs back to the stage while she's singing. The title is a bit of a pun. In Japanese, it's written as "Tokyo Kourin," meaning a visitation or descent upon Tokyo. Their best known song, Otonablue, the title is a pun on a Japanese phrase meaning "Adult Shake/Swing/Wave."

AG are a rabbit hole in themselves with very varied music and , being Japanese, much genre hopping. AG are anti-Idol, a remedy to manufactured pop, who self-choreograph, write their own lyrics and collaborate on the music. Then there is the Japanese music thing. Leaving aside metal and harder rock you might try CHAI, AINA the End, Necry Talkie, Polkadot Stingray, Haru Nemuri, Ado, ano, YOASOBI , Sheena Ringo, Haru Nemuri, PEDRO, Millennium Parade; there are just so many whose music and videos would blow your mind

Don’t leave out the metal and rock as Japan is killing it in harder music as well.
