I've noticed august is getting sloppier with research and nitpicks things that are jokes or should be easy to verify and it's a bummer as of late. Honestly, Ownage Pranks has gone really downhill. There are some legitimately funny pranks he’s done recently with interesting setups. The UPS banging sister one, the Pakistani grandma one, a few others as well. He’s still clearly got the original comedy he always had. The problem is the new style of videos. Ever since the face reveal he’s totally changed. He does these long ass setups for the pranks, these weird and pointless skits, animations that are usually less than 5 min, etc. And he tried out this new simplistic animation style which was poorly received but he’s still continuing it. He keeps telling us the animation is expensive and he needs monetary support, when everyone is telling him the classic black background with animated subtitles and gifs was the iconic style they first fell in love with. It made moments like the Juanito restaurant and Uber driver stalking ones feel really special when you actually got to see the victims. The old animations that happened once every few months at best were great because he would usually only animate the ones with a ton of great potential. Nowadays these constant animations come at the cost of making them each one feel less special and taking away the imagination of it, and it also making the videos much, much shorter. Believe me, I love the channel, I still rewatch a lot of those older pranks. Sometimes when I’m doing something menial like cooking or brushing my teeth I’ll actually put on some of the old pranks like a podcast in the background. It’s good shit that never gets old. But the new videos have really lost that magic. It’s sad, really.

I think the core of the problem is that he switched up from quality to quantity. My theory is that he did that because his video views started dropping and he started making less and less money/video, so as to maximize his profits he started releasing as many videos as possible. Just a theory though.
