Imagine they make an HD collection of the 'Soul' series for PS4, X1, and Switch that has: - Soul Edge - Soulcalibur - Soulcalibur II - Soulcalibur III - Soulcalibur IV - Soulcalibur V Or how about an 'ultimate' Soul Calibur game that has *everyone* (outside of guests) in 1 game?

The problem is it would have to be the arcade versions of the first three games, and I don't think anyone wants to play those when the home version are so much better.

Replace SC3 with SC3 Arcade Edition, and I’m good. TBH, I don’t necessarily dislike the vanilla 3 (other than the fact the AI is cheap), but Arcade Edition makes 3 characters (Li Long, Hwang, Amy) into their own characters instead of copy-paste from CaS

@@williamcolon4070 Hm... I wasn't aware there was as 'Soulcalibur III: Arcade Edition'. What I do recall is the PS2 version of Soulcalibur III having that game save corrupting glitch.

@@ShiningT1g3R Well they could base the games off of the arcade editions, but update it to have the upgrades the console version had (content wise). It's a remaster so developers can do things like that.

The beyond-the-arcade port of Soulcalibur was the best-reviewed game of the year - and remains one of the best-reviewed games of all-time - and was able to break from a pack of other fighters on the system at launch, helping cement the Dreamcast as a system with excellent games out of the gate as opposed to the Saturn and assisting the Dreamcast to Sega's most successful launch sales ever.

Definitely my favorite game of all time! I've been playing Team Battles on Ultra Hard difficulty for 20 years & haven't lost a full match since 2000. If that statement sounds like bullshit to you I have a channel to prove it. Over 1000 videos of Team Battles this year so far. If it were only online though, I'd really have some fun!

Huuuge mistake for them to release Dreamcast in Japan first. I know they were trying to beat the ps2, but Saturn was doing far too well there for them to drop it so quickly; they found their fanbase, and quickly turned their backs on them...

I would hardly call the dreamcast a success. It sold very poorly in the grand scheme of things, 9-10 million units sold worldwide. Now this was because Sega couldn't keep up support for the system and killed it off in March 2001. The dreamcast had a rough start in Japan because they were still into the Saturn by 1998 and for them it was a wtf moment. Granted, the dreamcast was selling at a pretty quick rate. Nothing PS2 worthy but it sold at a faster rate than the xbox and gamecube did. I mean think about it. Gamecube was on the market for 5 years (2001-2006) and the dreamcast only two. 10 million dreamcasts sold in 2 years compared to 22 million gamecubes sold in 5 years. Also, while the dreamcast initially floundered in Japan on launch, the tides turned once Sega cut support for the system in 2001. Japan still had officially licensed dreamcast titles coming out until 2007. I love the dreamcast as well Max, but saying it didn't bomb is an understatement.
@YoVideogames
@YoVideogames 5 жыл бұрын
It didnt bomb in NA since you seemed to miss that part of the conversation. Peter Moore has even stated as such in more recent interviews. Also keep in mind that the Dreamcast launched in NA on 9-9-99 and was officially announced as being discountinued in January 2001. 14 months. It sold nearly same amount as the 4 year lifespan of the Wii U in less then half the amount of time. And carried almost alone by one territory. A lot like the N64.

@@YoVideogames yeah sure, the dreamcast sold faster than the wii u thats for sure, but you're talking about the Wii U lol. Nintendos worst selling home console and a commercial disaster. Sure you can make the dreamcast look impressive when comparing to the likes of the wii u lol. Now lets go compare the dreamcast to the atari jaguar and apple pippin lol. For real tho, Did it bomb in the grand scheme of things? Yes, because Sega discontinued the system on March 31st 2001 due to financial struggles. Selling only 10 million units worldwide isn't exactly a feat since the PS1 and PS2 both sold over 100 million units worldwide. It's all about perspective. However, for the short amount of time that it was on the market, its amazing launch propelled it greatly, along with an amazing launch lineup. So it really just depends on what you mean by "bombed". Also, it was discontinued in March of 2001, not January. And even if it was January, thats not 14 months, thats 16 months from 9-9-99. Albeit a technicality. The dreamcast was doomed before it even came off the ground. Sega's poor decisions and misfortunes prior really plagued the console. Even with the early success of the dreamcast, its life was cut short. I still think calling the dreamcast an overall success is an understatement. If it had few more years? Who knows, but the PS2 was on the horizon and it crushed the competition. (I.e. gcn & xbox).

bombed would be if no one bought it at all, but for the first year on the market it was successful. Keep arguing semantics, im sure it will work out well for you.

@Apharmd Battler I understand your argument. I even mentioned myself that Gamecube and Wii U had even more disappointing sales than the dreamcast, considering they were on the market for a lot longer. Also, regardless of the GameCube and Xbox selling around 20-24 million units worldwide, Sega would've still exited the hardware business. The company was in a huge financial struggle regarding the 32X, Saturn and the massive funds that went into the creation of Shenmue. I doubt that they would've stayed in the ring if they knew the GCN and Xbox would've only sold around 20 million units. Although, this is mere speculation so there is little merit. Also, I may have misinterpreted your comments here but Sonic games, especially back in the early 2000's weren't exclusive. The adventure games came to the gamecube after the dc and then to the ps3/360/steam. Super monkey ball, VF4, JSRF & Panzer dragoon orta also aren't on the dreamcast. Unless you meant that they would've been on the DC if the DC stuck around for a little while longer. Overall, there are two ways you can look at it. The dreamcast was successful RELATIVE to the amount of time that it was on the market. But to call it a success and then say that Japan was the reason why the discontinued it, is just flat out wrong. Japan continued supporting the dreamcast with fully licensed games up until 2007 with the release of Karous. Or the second way you can look at it is the sales numbers WITHOUT the relative time taken into account. Cuz at a measily 9 million units sold worldwide, it definitely wasn't in everybodies homes, and a lot of folks moved on the ps2, xbox and cube afterwards. Moreover, whether the dreamcast was a success or not is very subjective but deep down i truly miss Sega back in their prime. I miss their awesome unique IP like Ristar & Burning Rangers. We were so spoiled back then aha, unlike now when we get Sonic games regurgitated over and over again. And, like you said, the arcade was essentially killed off when the DC came out. The DC versions was literally arcade perfect, if not with added content! I would much rather have Sega and SNK go at it in the hardware market again rather than Sony & Microsoft myself, but obviously i know that is a pipe dream. But one can only imagine lol. Anyway, have a good one sir.
