I had 3 but now 2 bc as of today I did maintenance on the tank and could only find 2 when I was done I figured it was just hiding but came back and still only the same 2.. took everything out of the tank and it’s gone??? I wonder if I buried it with decor but took everything out again and ran my fingers through the sand and nothing.. or it came out with decor when I was brushing of algae in a 5 gallon bucket and I tossed it in the yard with the dirty water or it jumped out and my dog ate it… idk. It was an inch and half long or so and I don’t see how I could have done this

I bought them as golden zebra loaches (but they were definitely yo-yo) at petco and I’ve been multiple times this month and they haven’t restocked them since I bought the last 3 a month ago 🤦‍♂️ and even if they do restock they would probably get golden zebra loaches bc thats what they are supposed to be selling in the first place. Man I’m up a creek.. just needed to vent somewhere bc no one I know is a fish keeper and wouldn’t understand.

@@J.mansel4291 They are experts at hiding and can get in very small paces so I wouldn't be surprised if they show up one day in the future. That's a bummer though that they sold you the wrong ones. If you need more and are worried about finding them local the fastest way would be to get some online. I've had good experience ordering fish online but the shipping cost definitely adds a good bit to the price of each fish unfortunately. Do you have other fish stores besides petco near you?

My yo yo loaches have been happy, compatible tankmates with my clowns and polka dot loaches for 14 years. Yes, 14 years 😂. They’ve maxed out at just about 5 inches.

I have a group of 5 in a 50 gallon with some guppies..they seem rather happy interacting with each other. I think 3 in a 29 is okay, providing you keep their water properly filtered and maintain it when it should be. I've had my ph drop as well, they didn't seem affected by it but I did remedy that with some crushed coral. They don't do well AT ALL if your heater goes out,I did have one get pretty sick from this, but it is still alive and healthy because I caught the problem in time.
@TheAquaticCoder

That's good to hear that you caught it in time and they ended up pulling through. That's good to hear experience on what problems might hurt them the most. My 6 are doing great and they are one of the few species I still have never lost any from. Best of luck with your loaches!

I just bought some yo-Yo loaches for the first time. I have them in a quarantine tank. How long should I quarantine them before putting them in my community tank? Also, are they prone to certain diseases that I should be looking for? I thought I read that they can have worms and need to be dewormed? I also heard they can be sensitive to certain medications so I'm a little leery of prophylactically medicating them.

i have dojos, yoyos, and zebras all together and they eat literally whatever i put in the tank. bloodworms seem to be their favorite, but they'll go for wafers, flakes, and pellets as well. a problem bigger loaches sometimes have is what i call "floaty butt". where they struggle to stay upright in the water and float to the top. this is usually something wrong with their diet, so just give them some veggies.

@@TheAquaticCoder after having them for a little longer i still haven't run into many issues. one thing i can note is that if they have ick or some other disease, u might see them erratically rubbing themselves on objects around the tank. its hard to see spots or lesions on them bc of their patterns, so thats a good sign to watch for.

I have a question i hope you can help me with. I have some yoyo’s. One keeps doing this weird swimming up and down the tank or laying on things and doing weird jerking stuff. Ive never seen him do this before and my others are totally fine. My water parameters are totally fine. Is this normal or something i should worry about??? Ive only had then 3 weeks.
@TheAquaticCoder
@TheAquaticCoder 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay in a response. I've been moving so it's been a busy few weeks. Laying on their side is normal as I see mine do it from time to time. I've seen Yoyos and other species sometime jerk to look like they are itching. I'd say if you water parameters are good and there is no sign of illness on any fish not to worry. Just keep an eye out for any physical signs on them that may look unhealthy. They do have some interesting behaviors which I've seen in both Yoyos and Clown loaches so probably nothing to worry about. Might just have a weird one lol.

I have a 53 Gallon Tank which Loaches are good for me?
@TheAquaticCoder
@TheAquaticCoder 2 жыл бұрын
Yoyo loaches are a good choice in my opinion. They get to a decent size but will fit in a 53 gallon. They also have some of the silly personality of Clown Loaches but are much more manageable. Yoyo Loaches and Clown Loaches are the only ones I've personally kept but Zebra Loaches are similar to Yoyo's but a bit smaller. Hillstream or Kuhli loaches are unique looking and ones I am curious to keep in the future myself.

@@TheAquaticCoder ok Thank you. And what is Witz the Angelicus Loach? This loach is smaller than the Yoyo Loach. Can i have loaches Sith a normal Filter without Strong Flow Pump with a Catfish, 7 Congo Tetra and 10 Zebrafish in 53 Gallon by GH 8 and KH 7 and PH 7,5 ? I like Loaches they are so funny. 5 Piece or 6 ?
@TheAquaticCoder
@TheAquaticCoder 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonasz.3777 I have not looked at the Angelicus Loach much in the past but it looks similar to Yoyo or Zebra Loach. I'd say whichever pattern you like the best is what I would recommend. Any of those will fit in a 53 gallon. Do you know what type of catfish you have? Otherwise it looks like all of that should fit in a 53 gallon. I think the parameters are fine and no I don't think you need a strong flow. I know most loaches like that from their natural habitat but it isn't a requirement in my opinion.

I have 2 in my 30 gallon one is very active and one hides. (I just got them yesterday) will the other one become comfortable and come out? Or is the other one bullying it?

They generally do best with 4+ together. So that is likely the reason they are hiding so much.

I don't think you'll have any issue with filtration or dirty water from 3 in a 20. They are very active though and really like a group of 4+ so overall not ideal for them longterm imo

Mine spend a good amount of time hiding too. If I go spend time near the tank though they usually come out. That's why they are often swimming while I record my videos. You might just have extra shy ones. Do they come out when you feed the tank?

I hate yoyo loaches. I will never own those again. They nip at fins way too much and become a nuisance. They bother fish like crazy. Tore a lot of tails and even bothered my Betta who happens to be super friendly. Never again!!

I personally have enjoyed them but they do bother other fish. Keeping them with cichlids and clown loaches for me has not shown them doing any damage. I'm curious to know for what not to mix mine with in the future

@@TheAquaticCoder I have guppies. They bother them a lot. They killed a few of them; only the male guppies cause of their long tails. I think maybe anything with long fins they nip. My betta is friendlier lol should be the other way around! I have him with 40 other fish. He gets along with everyone and he’s huge. They also bother my snails a lot and the African dwarf frog. They nearly just bothered everyone. Stressed alot of my fish. Now that they’re gone, my tank is so peaceful and no more torn fins!NEVER AGAIN. Even when I had to use my hands to get one once, it bit me! So weird.
