@@SammyTWT Not what I meant. What I'm saying is the tech of in-game models are so good that it can match it's CGI counterpart and it's intended design, not just because they're using the same models. The fur on Kuma or Panda in-game finally has close to level of fur they have in CGI, unlike before where there was little to none. Like I said, Lili has had more or less the same look in CGI since Tekken 5 DR but it took T8 to get the hime cut and her eyes down just right. It's the details they can finally get right.

Though T8 looks amazing in many ways, one thing I do think is a thing is the similarity of faces between female characters, like Reina and Asuka. Also this is just a personal opinion, but T8 Jun looks a bit too porcelain perfect. In TTT2 she *actually* looked like Jin’s mother, like you could see the similarities.

Lars face got massive upgrade! You can see the determination and conviction in his expression compared to his T7 counterpart 6:47. Lili got a huge glow up for her hair and everything. Also she winks at you in her T8 Outro which just adds so much personality into her 5:34. Overall a majority of the female characters doll faces and dead eyes from T7 got remedied in T8. All the men got much better faces and the increased quality in muscle definition just made something already great even greater.

The game before tekken 7 was tekken tag tournament 2 and from what i know it did pretty bad in the markets which eventually led to bandai almost killing this entire franchise all together So tekken 7 was basically a last resort with limited budget to try and save the series and it somehow did extremely good which made them had more budget hence the massive improvements in tekken 8

Ehh not really, tekken 7 released off the back of the worst performing entry of the franchise (Tag 2). They didn’t have much of a budget to spend anyway even if they wanted to. Tekken 8 is built off the achievements, success and competitive scene built from Tekken 7, so naturally since they’ve got more resources to work with, they have more budget.

I like that in some waythe models in TK8 has a more distinctive look that represents the nationality and origin of the character more than 7. Take Alisa as an example, with the modification and some ingame angle (especially one shown in the video) you can easily tell she came from Russia (I mean, she is modeled after Dr. Bosconovitch deceased daughter, who was a Russian) since she really sparks the Russian vibe and look exactly as how a common Russian might look - which is directly different from her generic anime-looking model in 7. And that just does not stop with her, you have Lars with a Scandinavian look, Lili is now a true European, Claudio is as Italian as ever, and more.

Tekken 8 is a huge step forward in every single way except one small detail - transparent glossy textures. I was noticing it on the female characters' lipstick/gloss and thought maybe I was just being a perv, but then Yoshi's helmet made me realize that it's legit a thing. I think that it has something to do with the new lighting, which is better overall but seems to have a little bit of trouble with this one specific style of texture. Rather than realistic glossy reflection, it's now just a dull transparent tint. Leroy's glasses provide another good example. A smaller quibble is that many textures which used to be white now look like satin silver. This is most noticeable on Nina's dress, Lars' armor highlights and Devil Jin's outfit at the end.

To be fair to Tekken 7: it originally released in 2015, so there's almost a full 9 years of technological (and graphical) advancements between it and Tekken 8.

The Graphical Fidelity jump model-wise is so high and I am so happy that my Almost obsolete PC is still able to play it between 50-60 FPS at 1600x900, medium settings.

one thing I noticed thanks to this video is how important subtle eye movements are , used in tandem with mocap, take alisa's segment of the video for instance, she sways a lot in her idle animation putting her weight down from one foot to the other and tilting her head up and down as a consequence, in real life your eyelids would follow the movement, when your head tilts backword they'd slightly close and the eye would rebalance in order to keep looking straight ahead (in this case looking at the other fighter) somehow the sways look better in tekken 7 even being basically the same animation, maybe because of the uncanny valley effect tricking me with the high-quality model of tekken 8, looking way more realistic graphically but clashing more with the old eye movement

I also really like how everything flows much more naturally in T8. Hair, clothes...Yoshi's tail doesn't "sink" into the floor anymore. 😄 The clipping with Lili's sleeves used to be atrocious as well.

My personal opinion on all of these: Jin - I like that T8 Jin has a less dead expression than in T7, although T8 he's just more angry lmao. Kazuya - One of the best upgrades going T7 to T8. His entire model looks so much more crisp and his facial features are much more defined. It did age him, but I feel like that's how it's supposed to be after nearly 9 years. Alisa - I think I actually prefer the T7 version. More vibrant. She does have a very dead look, but I feel like it makes sense since she's a robot. Asuka - Do I even need to say it? Paul - Same thing with Kazuya, he's aged but it suits him. If you discard the T8 hairstyle, of course. Looking at the T8 model at 2:49, I do feel like they could've done a better job with his hair. Law - I prefer T7. His T8 model is just way too fucking built. Also I notice the least amount of changes in his model so far, along with Alisa. They just made all the mens eyes angrier lmao. Hwoarang - Another well deserved glow-up from T7 to T8. Aside from his character ending because he has some weird faces there. But T8 nailed it. Nina - Not particularly a fan of T8. She looks like she's lost what little personality she had left. Xiaoyu - The hair is a nice upgrade. I'm personally indifferent about this one otherwise. Lili - She's got a good glow-up, the hair in particular lol. T7 Lili looked a bit dead behind the eyes. T8 gave her a bit more charm. Zafina - I like that her voice sounds less dead and robotic in T8. Lars - Every man just got older and angrier in T8 lol. I feel like he lost some charm in his voice, but gained some through his facial features. Lee - Models look very similar, but I will forever be against changing his "Excellent" to "Marvelous". King - Very little to say besides that his T8 model looks great! Bryan - He looks more psycho in T8 and I'm all here for it. Yoshimitsu - When you use his T7 fit, he looks fine. Personally, I'm not a fan of his new default fit in T8. Steve - They did Steve so dirty in T8. Claudio - Absolutely best glow-up of Tekken 8 in my opinion. The voice, the face, the moves. He's just, chefs kiss. (I may be a Claudio main) Panda - Wish they kept the cute T7 growls. Kuma - Kuma finally got a bath. Jack - Very little to note. His T8 model looks great, so does his T7 one. Leo - As someone who speaks German, I just hate Leo's German in T8. Leroy - Very little to note, Master of Drip
