All of Fan Xian's fathers care about him. Albeit in different ways, but they all really care about him nonetheless. And despite all the manipulation, Fan Xian and his true father is really a like in many ways. He has inherited his father's intellect and his mother's nobility.

I beleive Fan Xian has a reason to not tell Yan Bingyun the truth at this moment and is saving it for the future. Even if it may be or not be easier to convince him to be on Fan Xian's side. If anything, I think telling him he's Xiao En's grandson and Fan Xian is the emperor's son is less believable until he can actually prove it than recklessly letting out the secret. I'd like to also think it's out of respect of Xiao En. He's keeping it a secret like he said he would. It's the same when he was with Xiao En. He never revealed that his mom knew Xiao En. He could have gotten information out of him sooner if he told him, but he decided to withhold that info which turned out for the better. Xiao En died remembering his grandson is alive and well and attempted to save his life. Even if it wasn't his true grandson, he got the peaceful ending he deserved after all that torture and imprisonment.

Yan Bingyun has shown himself to be blindly loyal to Chen Pingping and the overwatch. He seems to be obsessed with what he thinks is service to his country, but comes off as unthinking, blind obsession to the idea of 'patriotism'. Chen Pingping at this point is not to be fully trusted, he has his own ambitions... it was a great advice when Xiao En told Fan Xian to find for himself other allies apart from Chen Pingping. That was the best advice ever.

This is my conjecture as to why Fan Xian was being protected especially each time he was in danger also when Fan Xian was invited to the family dinner with the emperor and two princes because he is also the son of the emperor. Also, the emperor allows him not to kneel in front of him. This emperor must have loved Fan Xian's mother (Ye Qingmei) that much. What a surprise of event it turned out.

Letting him think that somehow all his sufferings bore fruit eventhough its not the truth. Hope kept him going but is also a silent killer. I'm just in awe, I couldn't really express how I feel. Even SZ who can be defined as the bad guy is so sweet and really cares for his sister. Even the good guys end up doing some morally questionable shxt. The characters are three dimensional no one is just bad and no one is just good. But CPP takes the cake cuz of how elaborate and cruel his plan is. He plays with ppl and their emotions. He has been planning this for eighteen years and everything just fell into place. In the end XE told FX about the temple. Exactly as he planned. I just wonder how much the king was involved.

It’s possible that Fan Xian’s side-kick, who was the clerk in Overwatch Council, could be Chen PingPing’s spy, right? I don’t know, I like how he helps FX but he was always in the right place at the right time in earlier episodes. I’m suspicious of everyone now because of CPP. He is so vicious with what he did to Xiao En, his family, and grandson. Torturing someone is such a cruel thing. I’m glad FX is smart enough to figure out what XE confided to him in the cave.

to anyone who is confused and wants some clarification **MAY be SPOILERISH in nature** As someone who has read the books, all I can say is that the 3 men (emperor, CPP, and Fan Jian) ALL love and care deeply about Fan Xian. However, they are all "grey" characters, especially the emperor and CPP who tend to manipulate Fan Xian and other people into doing what they want to accomplish their goals. Up until THIS POINT, they wouldn't ever do anything that can harm Fan Xian. CPP is very intelligent and he doesn't trust the Emperor because he thinks the Emperor did something bad in the past. CPP is actually only loyal to Fan Xian and his mother, and wants him to be in power. He wants to see Fan Xian on the throne and in complete control of everything. The Emperor loves and adores Fan Xian but is afraid of him becoming too strong in the future like his mother was in the past - Fan Jian and CPP both know this and they actually talked about it in the show in one of the previous episodes when they were fighting over whether Fan Xian should be head of Council versus the Treasury and Fan Jian told CPP the the Emperor would never allow Fan Xian to have both as that would give him too much power.

YB really does the honor of the six bureaus, so smart but so rigid. About if he is Xiao En grandson, it´s just a possibility. And it looks like CPP wants the Noble Temple power for him, but about that, he is an evil mind....I believe the Emperor is the worst. He even maybe sacrifice YQ when he was trying to obtain information about the Noble Temple. If FX is now anger for so many lies and manipulation, he is going to feel worst if his father really did that. I wonder how much about that know the princes and what is the true face of the second prince. I like him, but it looks that it is a shady and dangerous one. It is going to be interesting who is behind the new army. What a great plot
