I have no problem starting mine with a hobbico starter with a prop nut.

The smoke you see is the oil, or leftover fuel vapor caused by the high compression, this engine can start without the glow igitor

I seriously doubt that a GLOW engine can start without a glow ignitor. Now a compression ignition engine can but not a glow plug engine.

That puff of smoke is a result of high compression. If the pump could withstand a diesel mix, it would run on it.

Oh, interesting. I do not recall seeing that come from my F-120.

Yeah, I have an Enya .60 two stroke that has high compression and it does that. One day with a new plug, I was choking it 3 times before starting. It fired without the Ni-starter on it! the damn thing almost cut through my leather glove I was wearing. When an engine puffs smoke like this upon turning it over, consider it a dangerous hazard of starting.
