This choir is amazing. There was so much intensity! I am in the Indianapolis Children's choir, and our conductor, Mr. Josh Pedde, showed us this video during rehersal, and said he hoped that this was the kind of intensity he was looking for when our choir performs this song at our halloween concert on Oct. 28. I only hope that our choir can have even a quarter of the intensity that this choir has. They're AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone that has ever sang this song can tell you how hard it truly is! Plus they have to move!! ( Its EXTREMELY hard on the sopranos!) They did a wonderful job!

This is very good - the male voice that comes through when they spread out is very strong and I think really lends depth to this piece!

This is one of the best compositions ever written. This piece can and does invok sooooo many emotions when you hear it.

My school choir did this song for sh*ts and giggles one year and it was an absolute blast. I love the way they're enunciating so those of us who have sung it before can follow along even if it's been a while.

This is a really moving rendition of this gorgeous piece. I have looked at other clips, even ones showing professionals singing it, and it's not nearly so powerful. Just great. Thanks for posting this!!

I'm Turkish. I don't know how to speak English. I use Google Translate. I'm not a musician and I don't know much about music. But I agree with one of your comments. Ysgol Glanaethwy group sings and interprets that fortuna piece best.
@taylorw15 жыл бұрын
Apart from the audience intrusion, this is the most electric version of this piece I've found in YT. Orchestration doesn't overwhelm and the pace is perfect. Vitality of youth, or something... go Ysgol Glanaethwy...

I know exactly what you mean! Shivers,spikey hair AND even tears for me. AMAZING!
@expat125009016 жыл бұрын
Absolutely fantastic! All three choirs demonstrated a high standard and all three were worthy winners! Hope to hear more from Ysgol Glanaethwy in the future! The choir is young and has bags of potential! Well done to everyone who made it through to the final. PS Both Ysgol Glanaethwy and OMA made Wales proud! We truly are still the land of song! Let's keep up this marvellous Welsh tradition!

fantastic and brilliant, i'm usually a negative critic of choirs (including the ones i was in back in high school...)but i am genuinely impressed!! i'm only dissapointed that no choirs like this exist where i'm from.

Yes, I really understand you. In fact I mean that frustration and other kinds of human´s suffer are generating a large part of human´s existence. But in the other site a nice moment´s in human life are in this way much more valuable. Gold wouldn´t be so valuable if it would grow everywhere. And you are trying to bring themost valuable thing - a knowledge. Thanks for it.

written by Carl Orff- called 'O Fortuna' from the opera 'Carmina Burana'. The song itself is about the fickleness of fate, which is possibly why it builds up from almost a whisper to the incredible ending

Just to note to everyone: This isn't the full song. I am not critizing the way they sang the song, but rather the lyrics that they left out. These are the lyrics they left out: "Sors immanis, et inanis, rota tu volubilis, status malus, vana salus, seper disolubilis, obumbrata, et velata, michi qoque niteris, nunc per ludum, dorsum nudum, fero tui sceleris". If you are going to sing a song, SING THE WHOLE SONG!!!

Translation of the bit shown here: O Fortune, like the moon of ever changing state, you are always waxing or waning; hateful life now is brutal, now pampers our feelings with its game; poverty, power, it melts them like ice. The chance of prosperity and of virtue is not now mine; whether willing or not, a man is always liable for Fortune's service. At this hour without delay touch the strings! Because through luck she lays low the brave, all join with me in lamentation!
