YSL Opium Fragrance Review (2009)

This perfume (the original from late 80s, early 90s, which is when I first smelled it) is what really opened my nose to how a fragrance could carry such fascination and beauty, just as a painting or music.

Hi Joy from Bahrain, YSL Opium was (still is) in my opinion the epitonomy of sophistication, this was my signature scent in the ninties, it takes courage to wear such a BIG & BOLD fragrance. This is a must have in my collection for all the reasons. Surprisingly my daughter is totally infactuated with this perfume, She wears it (occassionaly) and recieves compliments..this is a compliment magnet. It is to be discontinued or may be it is already.

I have this fragrance! I love 💓 it a lot .! Very unique from my collection. You’re right this to my nose 👃 is oriental & spicy definitely . 👍But I heard it’s been reformulated loads of times . 🤔 What do you think ? I’ve never smelled the original, still enjoying this one ☝🏾. If you want to reach the impression of the original you can layer Youth Dew in the neck and you finish with Opium over it or on your clothes. Opium is toned down but still recognizable, easier to wear, less polarising.

Can you compare this one to the EDP. I have this one and I remember liking this one better when I smelt them at Macy’s. But I have had babies over the years who have helped to change my taste and my chemistry. I want to go back and spray my arms with both to compare. And yes I always have thought this would smell great on a man. I would love for my husband to wear this but he doesn’t wear Calvin Klein Obsession unless I ask him so idk if he would care to wear it.

Indeed is unisex. All the vintage perfumes in today's standards are unisex. For example Chanel no 5 can be easily be weared by men.

I blind bought this, and got it in the mail today. I do not like it. It smells like an old perfume from the 1970s. It just smells old to me.

EDP was launched after Secret de Parfum, beginning of the 2000. Initially Opium was launched as perfume and EDT.

@@aupamosia1506 Current version are from 2009 reformulated and watered down. Original Opium was a bomb.
