I sincerely hope Konami reprints the 2002 Starter Decks Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, and Pegasus. Those were the very first set of cards I ever owned. That was during my freshman year of high school, which I graduated from in 2006. Man I feel old just talking about it.

I remember getting starter deck Yugi and my cousin getting kaiba when we graduated from elementary school at the time, it would be great to reprint it so we can play it again

I was about to comment the same. I got them when I was 6. Probably a long time after they came out. I eventually convinced my parents and I think I got it as a christmas present. They were in every mall everywhere for like 2 years. Starter deck Yugi changed my life.

Good news. reprinting old sets is fantastic for low budget collectors and people who chase the old cards but don't want to spend hundreds.

None of the cards in here are hard to obtain. The only value they held was from being in the original version of this set. If all you wanted were the old cards in here, they've already been made available multiple times. Especially thanks to Speed Duels.

@@SakuraAvalonyes but having an entire set based around old cards is much nicer for nostalgia collectors on a budget. People prefer opening these throwback sets rather than buying singles or buying newer sets just for a couple of promo cards and then being in possession of a bunch of bulk rubbish like some speed duel sets

@@TheNotoriousB.E.N. Agreed 100% I primarily collect Pokemon, a company that reprints absolutely nothing. I mean, there's 1000 Pikachu cards, but it's not like you're gonna get a reprint of a full set or anything like that. If you want a Neo Destiny card, your only option is to buy the single, or pay an outrageous amount for a booster pack. The only exception to this was XY Evolutions, when they reprinted the Base Set cards, but even so it wasn't 1:1; there were cards missing and cards added. I would love to have a reprint of some older sets like Jungle, Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, etc; even if the singles aren't worth that much. To just open those packs again would be awesome. So yeah, I'm pretty hype for this set, and this is the reason I'm starting to lean a little more toward YuGiOh collecting. They seem like they are very for-the-collectors than other TCG's (think of MTG's reserved list for example); especially the "average" collectors.

Reprinting a reprint set. I wonder if battles of legend will be reprinted in 15 years lol. It makes sense to me to reprint core sets, but why are we reprinting a reprint set? I guess I'm partially saying this as a salty collector who has some RP01 and also a RP02 shining dragon, but comon man lol. This would hurt me a lot less if the original 2 RP sets actually came in first edition, but they never did. I guess players get to be mad at Konami for rarity collection 2, and collectors get to be mad at Konami for retro pack reprints lol.

Anything without a 1st edition logo can be reprinted at any time, that's why I've never collected MFC unlimited. It will get reprinted at some point, just like Retro Pack 1 and probably Retro Pack 2

It’s good and bad at the same time for sealed collectors. On one hand people who own it now are upset for potential decrease in value but the sealed collectors that don’t own it can now get a sealed box. Need me some GX era set reprints and I’ll be good. Would love to have a set of the booster boxes sealed.

@@toewstokane9023 Did collectors actually collect sealed sets of LOB, MRD, ECT that they printed for 25th anniversary? I feel like as a collector I would want to only collect original sets. I love opening them for nostalgia purposes (which they have ruined in this one with doubling the chance at pulling rare cards), but collecting those doesn't hit me the same way as the original upperdeck prints... They're useful reprints though; which, these aren't, seeing as everything in them was just reprinted in the 25th anniversary boxes, lol. I think they should stick to reprinting core booster sets, I would absolutely LOVE for them to reprint GX and 5Ds. Personally anyway, I don't see any value in reprinting retro pack, as it was a reprint set to begin with and it wasn't incredibly relevant (or retro pack 2) at the time.. it only became so, because it basically turned into a legend later on, as RP01 was only released scarcely in Europe, and RP02 was notorious for how hard it was to pull anything from. It did not have the same hit as day 1 release for core sets. Like, does anyone remember any other reprint set? They're all just as forgettable as battles of legends will be in 16 years from now.

So konami where's the new antlantean structure deck remake or the new remake of dragons collide with a retrain for light pulsar and dark flare dragons?, how about six samurai support or bringing in some of the rush duel cards into the TCG standard game? as nice as this is, it feels like you are holding back.

It doesn't matter to me because I hardly own any Yugioh cards, but I hope they know that this will completely kill the collector scene. This is literally the final nail in the coffin. Maybe their strategy is simply that the community only consists of players.

I do not like this at all. Even tho these will have the studio dice logo I can’t help but feel my rp01/rp02 collection is now significantly less cool.
