In regards to Peten the Dark Clown: Everything I said in my video is truth. But I do need to clarify a couple of things. I alluded to this but Peten has a nasty habit of missing the timing when used in combination with cards. Its worth noting that if Peten is sent to the grave it must be THE LAST THING that happens. For example, morphing jar discards but then requires you to draw cards causing the card to miss the timing. I hope that clears up any potential confusion surrounding the card. In regards to Soul exchange and metamorphosis: Metamorphosis cant target a facedown monster with soul exchange because the level is not public information, or rather the game thinks that you cant recognise the level. Therefore you cant special summon a monster guaranteed in case you didn't own a fusion monster of the corresponding level. - Raust

But surely you can activate Metamorphosis that you won't know will resolve, if you can discard a Thunder Dragon for no effect? (I kid, but it is odd.)

Perfectly put. Just remember peten or similar cards going to the gy has to be the last event. Just try to remember that. I'm pretty sure multiple optional effects can be chained, in a new chain link. So if multiple optional effects get sent to the gy by torrential or something and that's the last thing to happen, they can all activate in a new chain. Chain links resolve like this. Turn player's mandatory effects are put on chain first, followed by non-turn player's mandatory effects. Then turn player's optional effects are put on the chain, followed by non-turn player's optional effects. Also turn player can choose in what order there optional effects are put on the chain.

I have a question about the last one. If you summon fiend skull dragon and after that another fusion with summoner of illusions, does the 2nd one survive the end phase and then if fiend skull dragon leaves the field, will the 2nd fusion get destroyed during the next end phase or does it stick around? Thanks for the answer!

This is a common feedback I have been getting and it is greatly appreciated. That being said often the answer is genuinely because "Upperdeck said so". rulings 1 and 2 especially fall into this category, there is no particular reason that you can fail to find in Goat, its just a thing! A thing that I believe has been taken away. I have added some extra clarification in a pinned comment. I will work on this in future videos though. - Raust

What about when you activate spear grefin effect to special summon a monster from the graveyard when its destroyed by battle then bring back another spear grefin and continue the loop while card of safe return is on the field, it should let me draw cards everytime but in edo pro it just doesnt let me, i asked some people in edo pro discord about this and they said it cannot activate during the battlephase but it doesnt say that anywhere in the card
@CaioMalucoDoidao223 жыл бұрын
This happened to me once when I was playing Tag Force. Let me try to explain you: There are only a few cards that can activate their effects in the "battle step" and "damage calculation"; cards that changes attack/defense values can be activated in these phases (if they are quick effects, of course) or flip effect monsters being attacked. However, other effects cannot be activated in these phases, so "card of safe return" cannot resolve it's effect because spear cretin specifically is a flip effect monster, and it's effect activates in the middle of the battle step. In this scenario, you will then revive a monster in the middle of the battle step, and this will cause "card of safe return" to not activate it's effect due to the card game rules. However, it's important to notice that "card of safe return" can activate in the battle phase (if you use call of the haunted, for example) but you cannot draw cards with it's effect during a battle (battle step).

I like goat format (definitely prefer it to the solitaire games of today) and mainly play it exclusively on Dueling Book. I only have a few minor complaints about it: 1. Trap Dustshoot can burn in the deepest pit of Hell... It is probably the strongest/most aggravating turn 1 opening card to ever exist (maybe a few exceptions, but it’s definitely up there... AND it’s at THREE!!!) 2. I understand Trigger/Ignition priority for the time goat format was main format, but I believe it limits the playability of some of the otherwise strong cards available for the format (ie. Bottomless Trap Hole as mentioned in the video) and limits from more versatility in deck building. 3. The weird rulings about continuous trap cards needing to be activated and resolve before you can use their effects (ie. You can’t chain Royal Oppression to the special summon of a monster AND destroy it in the same chain, it would have to be already face up when the monster is attempting to be special summoned). 4. The extra draw for the first player pretty much skews the win ratio for the first player drastically. - This is the BIGGEST flaw in my opinion I would argue to do away with the first turn draw to make it an actual decision to go 1st or 2nd. 1st gets initiative, but 2nd gets initial card advantage. Many of the top decks open turn 1 with some advantage gaining card(s) anyway such as Dekoichi, Gravekeepers Spy, Mystic Tomato, Powerful Spell + Magician of Faith, etc. that I think it would balance things out into much more fair gameplay. Even trap dust shoot would be less of an issue if this was the case (it is a card usually best for going first to guarantee 4+ cards in opponents hand to easily activate) If using this card to return 1 to deck AND hand knowledge of the opponent is important to you, you would be doing it 1 card down from the offset. Either way it’s a great format and I enjoy it. Anyone else have similar/differing thoughts or am I alone on this lol?

To me, the biggest flaws of the Goat Format are the following: 1-Delinquent Duo. 2- The insane amount of consistent OTK decks. 3- Generally broken cards like BLS and Snatch Steal that just determine games by whoever draws into them first late game.

The fail to find thing probably makes more sense to people who have played magic, I'd have thought it was bizarre at one point, then I watched some legacy magic where people use a land which searches with no targets in deck in order to shuffle the deck after putting cards they don't want on top and then when I found out you can do that in goat too it didn't seem like such a wild idea.
@TKGriffiths4 жыл бұрын

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that if your opponent activates Delinquent Duo, if Peten is the first card hat is discarded, the effect will go off. But if it is the second card that gets discarded, it goes off. If that's the case, then that would also be something worth noting for an essential tip!

Isn't it the reverse? I thought peten being discarded needs to be the last thing to happen in order to prevent missed timing.

With your Cyber Jar point, I don't think you can add them to the hand first as Cyber Jars effect reads you reveal, SS, and then add any remaining cards to your hand. As for Thpusand-Eyes Restrict, how does control have to change? It merely says equip it to this card. When an opponent equips a card to your monster it stays on their side of the field, so why would equipping your opponent's card change sides?
@GoatFormat4 жыл бұрын
Heya, Thanks for your question. Allow me to explain: You SS the cards off of cyber jar, but after you reveal them you can mix them face down on the field. Adding them to the hand is to simulate doing this on DB. Like I said, Not many people realise you can do this, but you totally can! Thousand eyes restrict requires the monster to be equipped on the opposite side of the field. The card text reads "this card cannot change control". Essentially this effect carries over to even when the card is treated as a spell and trap card. In order for TER to equip the card needs to change control. Hope this helps - Raust

On Yu-Gi-Oh Wikia, the rulling is "you can't activate thunder dragon if you haven't thunder dragon in your deck". The rulling has changed ?? it's not the same in 2005 ?
@andleepfarooqui78743 жыл бұрын
yup. In modern Yu-Gi-Oh!, you cannot activate an effect if it does nothing (for example, you cannot use Miscellaneousaurus after you've already used Miscellaneousaurus that turn and you cannot activate C-Crush Wyvern with no Union monsters in hand, even if you would search another Union monster in the same chain). So in modern Yu-Gi-Oh! you cannot pay Thunder Dragon's cost if it can't search a target. In Goat Format, however, you could instead activate search cards and "fail to find" an appropriate target like in MtG

i really doubt the summoner of illusions/fiend skull dragon interaction works, since illusion's effect doesnt activate in the end phase and has already resolved. if i activate my abyss dweller in standby phase and you negate its effects after it has resolved, you still cant use graveyard effects. thats at least how it should work. unless there is a secret mechanic in goat format that i dont know about. in that case it would be great for future videos to explain WHY those things work, since that would give people a lot deeper knowledge of the mechanics and rulings of goat format. i think its more desirable to understand why stuff happens instead of just knowing it does in certain cases.
@GoatFormat4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! You can doubt it all you want, but it does work and that is factual. As I stated in the video I cant really comment on how the game works now and therefore can't tell you how dweller works. as for why... This is a tough one because a lot of yugioh's rulings can be summed up by saying "just cause" sometimes there isn't any rhyme or reason to why the game works in the way that it does. In the case of Fiend skull dragon, I dont know how else I can explain why it survives other than its effect negates summoner of illusions? If you require a more detailed answer, the Rulings experts in the Goat format discord will help you answer any of your quetions. discord.gg/5rjf5qP - Raust

It males sense because the end phase destruction is a separate effect. Also old ygo treated it's eff differently
@cristianDominguez3144 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that a lot of rulings dont make logical sense and/or conflict with other rulings. My guess is that it's because the TCG is translated from another language and the translation of some terms may affect the mechanics involved. Sakuretsu is a good example. In the TCG, it doesnt really make sense that it would target, because it tells you what to destroy. But in japanese it probably makes perfect sense. We cant change the mechanics involved (make sakuretsu not target) just because the new wording would suggest so. That would change how the game was intended to be played. This creates all sorts of counter-intuitive rulings, where things work in ways they seemingly shouldn't. There are probably other reasons too, language itself is very limited in conveying complex ideas, even more so in small text boxes.

@TKGriffiths4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Jinzo's continuous effect will start applying as soon as Return resolves, so it will negate all traps that resolve later in the chain. No, cards like Magic Drain and Solemn Judgment must be chained directly to the card they're going to negate. Also in this case, if opponent has already discarded for Magic Drain this means that the chain has already finished being built and started to resolve, so you could not activate any further card effects until that entire chain is over anyway.
@apex5884 жыл бұрын
Jinzo cant interrupt effects during their resolution however in this case he is summoned before it resolves so he would negate mirror force. No the chain has already started to resolve at that point.

@cristianDominguez3144 жыл бұрын
Its not that SE doesn't have its own applications. But strictly speaking, when dealing with face up monsters brain control is much better, and this is what is typically most common to deal with. Both cards are used in conjunction with cards that will build a board, so losing a battle phase is too steep a cost, as it would defeat the purpose or make you lose too much tempo. This of course, aside from monarch decks, which can get something just from being summoned which offsets the loss of a battle phase. But as for as techs go for more standard deck types, i think BC is much more aggressive and practical.
