The matte sleeves having an anti-glare front is only an Eclipse characteristic. Dragon Shield Mattes are not matte on both sides.

Ultra pro has stepped up their sleeve game from a while ago. Ultra pro used to be synonomous with garbage in the ygo scene, and while the boxes are still of a somewhat questionable quality, their sleeves and mats are still pretty good overall. Dragon shield still better for those running 1 or 2 decks, but when you have multiple decks, Dragon shield adds up a lot faster, so the budget option finally being _worth_ buying is always a good thing.

Dragon shield or... since you can now double sleeve I go with official Konami sleeves with cool designs and go for small character guard sleeves as the second, they look beautiful

Im probably wrong but Im pretty sure it all came about because of a small group of magic cheaters using sharpies to mark the backs of their cards and then using sleeves that would barely show the back of your cards. Im not sure what the rulings are now but I believe at one point when I was still doing sealed mtg stuff the official tournaments required all players to use the same official sleeves to black out the cards on the back.

Satin Towers are great, but the Eclipse deck box looks kind of flimsy. I've always found that the hinges on non-rigid deck boxes (and especially the hinges on larger sizes like the 100+) tend to deteriorate pretty quickly with frequent use, so they're fine for a deck you only play once in a while, but not for one you'll be you'll be using all the time. Still, it's hard to knock it too much when it retails for less than $5 - you don't expect a budget box to last as long as, for instance, an Ultimate Guard Boulder

I also prefer gloss sleeves, especially if you have nice rarities in your deck. The matte sleeves dull the visual effect of the cards too much.

I like gloss for my high rarity decks but think the mattes actually make the commons look better so i use them for my low rarity decks.

matte sleeves are good for large tournaments. Too much shine from high rarity causes some people headaches, and can make you more focused on the picture instead of the card effect. Most people will transfer them out after a large tournament back into gloss fronts. Especially since the germs from all the touching of cards.

Biggest beef I had with sleeves is that some company’s watermarked them with some logo. I’m more of a clean look, nothing graphic’d on.

Satin towers are great deck boxes, but are a pain to put into deck box storage containers due to their size. Love the compartment on the bottom of them that can hold dice and counters, and the lid doesn’t come open unless you want it to die to how difficult it is to get the lid off. So no cards spilling everywhere.

I bought these things called “Boulder Mini 40+“ They’re extremely compact deck boxes, and look very pristine/precise. They’re extremely hard plastic, and they really just add that ✨✨✨ they have them on TCG.

What sleeves are you using and are you single/double sleeving? How many cards max do you think the 40+ will be able to hold? Probably won't be enough for a full Extra+Side, but there are these small size ones that Dragon Shield do which can hold 15 cards which sound nice to hold side deck stuff

Eclipses are great. dragon shield are great too, but honestly eclipses feel perfect, shuffle perfect, and the gloss/matte give and option for shine or anti glare. Can't go wrong with them.

The Eclipse sleeves (new formula) are the best sleeves in existence. Can't go wrong with them, unless ur looking for custom art. I also own a satin tower and a playmat. They both are great. Satin towers are kinda tough to open at times, but they break in after a while and are super convenient for carrying anything a deck needs in one compact box. The playmat is simple but effective: durable, doesn't crease, slick, soft, sturdy, and it doesn't shift around.
