In the battle phase, battle step is when a monster you control is ready to attack a monster your opponent controls. The damage step is the moment right before the monster actually attacks, because the game calulates all the atk. and def point and if monsters have effects where they change their atk or def points during this step. Anyone feel free to correct me as I also am still learning the difference.

To counter what you said about needed cards like Evenly Matched: its decks like Bystials, Kashtira, Branded, etc. that need these to be used against them. I honestly believe that the overuse of these “top decks” is more a weakness since it relies on what someone else figured out and now every one is copying that (with some variations). So decks that need some of these cards aren’t because th e deck is bad, but that the decks every body copies require them to use the cards.

I don’t agree with that either. If you play an F tier deck and open with a free breaker, suddenly your deck is tier 1 for that duel. The key in Yugioh is building decks that work and not just situationally or in lower tiers. I also know some decks are just soooo ass that you NEED cards like kaijus or evenly, etc, but then you’re aiming at a 5% win ratio LOL
