Remember Kids: Mark could’ve destroyed card trader instead of Skyscraper 2 to kill me with Glow Neos. But even he, deep down, knew it was a bad card. Wall of Disrupting my peace of mind.

Considering the Duel Links card pool, Speed Duel is the champ here. No question! They did a good job with the deck boxes too.

IRL Speed Duel's card pool and skills are totally different from Duel Links! It did start as a clone, but really found its own identity with the box sets.

Speed Duel's pool focuses much more on cards/themes featured in the anime, and with more characters represented because it doesn't need animations and voice actors like Duel Links--for example, every Shadow Rider from GX is here. Most decks have resource engines, but efficient removal and revival are meant to be difficult to come by... or they were, until the last 2 boxes decided to go out with a bang by pushing the boundaries of the format with classic staples like Sakuretsu, a Mirror Force variant, Monster Reborn, and Premature Burial... So now, competitively, the game's full of OTKs and blowout cards. Many older metas were also plagued by stall strategies and always having one tier 0 deck choking out everything else. So every part of Speed Duel has always been carelessly mismanaged by Konami... but at least in casual play, where you can cut out the few game-breaking cards, it's a totally unique game that manages to combine the best aspects of every era of Yugioh. Battle and points are really important, but you also have long-term strategies to redeem for well-timed interactions.

NGL, i feel those loses from the edison decks were mostly due to starting with halved lifepoints, thus giving the speed deck an overwhelming advantage since lifepoints actually matters in slower formats. If you both started with 8k lifepoints it would have been much more fair imo

But the opposite would have been an overwhelming advantage for the Edison decks, as the Speed decks would now need to maintain control of the field for twice as long as they're meant to to reach lethal damage. I thought about this a lot, and concluded that the number of points required to win is more influential for a strategy than the number of points able to be lost. The goal--the damage output--determines what is enough to be a viable strategy. For what it's worth, only one of our matches was an OTK by a deck which probably couldn't OTK in an 8000-LP format, and we did a rematch in which the Speed player still held his ground for several turns. If we do this again we can try 6000 LP as a compromise.

Sorry, that was necessary to display both shots as large as possible without obstructing the speaking player's field. I have since changed the screen setup by our third match video (the Battle City finale).
