The legal version of the Egyptian god cards might be better than the sacred beasts but the sacred beasts are cooler and easier to summon (from the hand) due to them being a special summon. Raviel is my favorite card he looks so badass

Obelisk gains infinite power when you sacrifice two monsters on the field and Slifer gains 1000 points for every card in your hand with the addition of destroying any monster that's special summoned. Has everyone in this episode had a stroke and suddenly forgotten that Jaden has beaten literally EVERYONE he's duelled so far with the exception of Zane who is a champion duellist?! Jaden has beaten all the others in that room that he's duelled so far (again with the exception of Zane) and suddenly they're all talking down to him? What were the writers thinking? They all know how good he is.

This is when the show started to get serious......but honestly this arc is also not all the great plot wise. For one it's just a group of villains of different aesthetics coming to the academy one by one to challenge for plot devices to unlock a seal to get the equivalent of egyptian god cards. The set up has it where they have to lose to have a climax. And as we all know it's bad due to who is allowed to win and lose. Really the best episodes of these are ironically the filler ones which the show was basically doing before. Mind you I liked the dueling a environments they dueled on. I'm just saying from a narrative perspective it kind of fails a lot.

Red Eyes Darkness Dragon could've been better. I mean I like that card but gaining 300 atk points for every dragon in the graveyard is not enough, it needs a second monster effect. They have to make a better retain version of Red Eyes Darkness Dragon.

@@3starperfectdeer233 Maybe but compared to the cards that are released these days it's not enough, it's a big beater I'll give it that. but it doesn't have any protection, counter, or damage dealing effects to make it more of a threat. Which is why I hope they make a stronger retainer version of Red Eyes Darkness Dragon.

I definitely would like to see a modern retrain of Darkness Dragon, but to be fair, it came out relatively early on into the game's life. Admittedly, it wasn't great, but it was a solid beater back then, especially since it special summoned itself. Back then, you could've potentially used Future Fusion to dump 5 dragons into the grave for Five-Headed Dragon, then used Monster Reborn or something similar to revive Red-Eyes and sac it to summon Darkness Dragon, giving you a 3900 beater on the first turn with another 5k beater waiting. Also, dragons have had a lot of support cards over the years, even back then. Stamping Destruction to take out backrow, Dragon's Roar to give all your dragons piercing damage, Dragon's Bead to protect from targeting traps.

So if the Shadow Riders had that kind of mentality, it would make sense for them to target Jaden. Jaden wouldn't mind of course, but it makes a lot of sense if you see it that way.
