i think mystic elf had the duelist kingdom in the original game. it was either in this and/or duelist of the roses.

Does the Ante Card you bet matter? Do you get good cards if you bet good cards or is it irrelevant?

According to yugipedia usually you get a card from each duelist's pool, but there is a list of low level cards that cause the card you win to come from a different pool of cards which are on the weaker side
