Unofficially if you get Bored you could Close your Eyes and Shuffle the Skill Cards and Randomly Place the Skill Cards on the Ground, and Randomly Pick One again with your Eyes Closed. And your Opponent would be doing the same.

I think speed duels is a cool idea/format, but I'm waiting for more cards to be added to make it really worth getting into. Also because no one near me plays it. I do think it's a great opportunity for reprints, especially if they add old archetypes and cards that don't have many reprints

I like how you get a box that gives you 8 decks to play with. Will be fun to try out with some friends. I don’t really care much to learn new metas and build modern decks so its nice that you get some interesting decks right out of the box. Seems very similar to the commander format that magic has which is fun for people who don’t really keep up with modern yugioh or have never played

I like what I'm seeing in Speed Duels. Modern Yu-gi-oh can be convoluted, so this somewhat simplified version of it is easier to get people into. I also like having characters with abilities adds a personal touch to the deck that makes strategies work that normally wouldn't.

Haven’t played yugioh since I was back in middle school, 2001-2003. Seems like what we used to play is now called Speed Duels. Except for the fact that less cards are involved, it all seems to be like how we would play cards all those years ago.

the speed duel format is a ton of fun! that being said, don't let Konami's "only use these cards with this specific text on them" hold you back from playing! Just buy the skill cards because you are literally buying the "speed duel" text on most of the cards in the boxes and decks.

Some of my favorite skills Joe palominzation. I have a great fusion deck with fusion monsters i pulled from the boosters like meteor b.dragon and ryusin. Ultimate evolution pill rex - replaced serpent night dragon with 2 jurrac tytannus i pulled. So from the deck i can get a 2500 dino that can tribute 1 dino to get 500 atk and gets another 300 per monster it destroys.. Thats just a couple of my decks. In total i built 7 speed duel decks so far and im loving them.

Something else I like about the time at which they started printing cards for Speed Duels is they can learn from their mistakes over the course of the entire real world OCG/TCG, and any mistakes they made in Duel Links, so at least hypothetically Speed Duels could be the most well managed variation of Yu-Gi-Oh! so far. That is if Konami is actually learning from their mistakes.

One thing that I really like about Speed Duels is the printing of old school cards that we use to see in like old yugioh games but never been/or once a tournament pack printing cards. Now I can finally collect them. :) Also in sleeves topic. Buying a pack of 60 yugioh sleeves covers 3 speed duel 20 card count decks.

Speed duels is the physical version of YuGiOh Duel Links and the God Cards see more play in duel links! There are some good decks that have the potential to create some havoc in Speed Duels as it evolves.

On the note of building one's Deck around their skill, in Duel Links I had a Deck that was based on Draw Sense: High Level or Draw Sense: FIRE. I'd use a bunch of Trap cards to increase my life points so I could afford to take damage to add Lava Golem to my hand off Draw Sense, and then keep stalling from there until my opponent burned to death.

Espa Roba - Psychic Roulette. Halt an Attack. Choose four monsters to be targets along with both players. Assign a number between 1 and 6 to each and roll a die. The result is the new attack target (if its the player, its Direct Damage) if there are less than four monsters and the result is no target, the Battle Phase ends

I like to play something we call 'Vintage Format', we can use cards from any era but with pre-Sinchro master rule, so no Sincros, Xyzs, Pendulums or Link cards, so its a slower game but still prety cool. A lot of those Speed Duel cards are prety usefull on that.

Speed Dueling is long overdue but not past due in my opinion: Good Job Konami! I truly believe this game needs a reboot. A True fun experience for card players & for old fans of the early anime. I remember the year 2002 as if it were yesterday… I was but a small young bastard at the time.. Oh the days of collecting the “Metal Raiders” & “Magic Ruler” booster packs, hoping & waiting for that sexy “Suijin” or a “Jinzo” perhaps.. The kids on the block use to blow in between the cards upon opening the pack from the upper top. Don’t ask me why 🤣🤣 as we thought this method would give us luck for the best cards! Besides the collecting value, dueling was highly addicting until the late 2000s. The game I use to love and adore became over complicated & corrupted just like my Ex.. 1st comes the honeymoon stage then comes the unnecessary long peroid of grief.. My point is.. Change is good when it’s done right & I feel the YuGiOh card game has become uninteresting & no longer engaging … I personally can’t invest time & money into something like that.. I refuse to read some long paragraph on single card like it’s the 2nd page of the New York Times.. Hopefully speed dueling is here to stay as I will become a fan of it even after a 18 year hiatus. Just a mere youtube video of a random speed duel is actually quite fun to watch, especially coming from someone as impatient as myself. I recommend this form of Yugioh to new and former players.. The main question you need to ask yourself. What got you into playing the Yugioh card game in the 1st place.. How did it make you feel to have that 1st duel. I personally miss that fun feeling.

I can weigh in here. There is definitely a way to protect yourself in duel links prior to the battle phase. I know the cards in the physical version may not allow for this but I think that's definitely a card availability issue not a format issue. And, in that format, swinging into back row blind, is typically a no no. Depends on the deck your facing. Also, the idea of "what does that card do" is absent completely from high level play. It's massively about deck and meta knowledge as apposed to player interaction. It's a bit of an autopilot format in a lot of cases but knowing how to set up your auto pilot is key. I'd assume if they keep releasing cards for the speed duels format it will essentially feel the same way duel links feels. Also... duel links has third party cash money prize support from tournaments thrown by a content creator. Go figure smh.

Couldn’t you just use current TCG Cards in a Speed Duels Deck and Speed Duel Cards in a standard TCG 40 - 60 Card Deck? One of my friend had me add a few cards from a Speed Duels Starter Deck to one of my real TCG Decks since the Card is too expensive to get.

I am one of those who played back in 2002 for a couple of years and recently purchased the legendary decks 2 with the 3 classic decks yugi kaiba and joey. Also bought the latest game Legend of the duelist : Links edition and just beginning to understand how much the game has changed. All these new mechanics xyz , pendulum, links are new to me. Do you think it will be worth it for me to invest in speed dueling or should I start learning the new mechanics since I am already familiar with the basics of the classic Yu-Gi-Oh ?

Simpler cards, looks at Heat Wave. sure. Heat Wave going to get a hit way too good in this card pool. No otks, looks at Blue-eyes decks. sure Black Skull dragon isn't in Speed Duels, yet, Meteor Black dragon.

One outlier example doesn't disprove an entire trend. You can't deny that the cards are much simpler than the regular TCG. Heat Wave is also very fair in this format. Most decks have strong monsters they can set, and the effect is only one turn. Blue-Eyes also has plenty of checks. It rarely actually OTKs on the first turn thanks to all of the game's defensive Traps, and its unlikely to actually go off perfectly to begin with. Have some faith! 👌🏾

Do skillcards go in spel/trap or fieldspel zones? Because there not exactly spelcard... Its a skillcard. Like yugi yumi skillcard(i think) gives 200 to spellcasters and fiends... But its a skill card. No spellcard so does it have to go to the fieldspelzone or not?

As a duel links player I love speed duels. The format isn't tremendous in DL atm but only because it's old. It IS relatively balanced. Anyway, I'd love to play this version but no one plays it at my locals. Again, the promotion issue. Love the idea but the execution has been miserable. As per Konamis standard.

I've been wanting to get back to ygo after I stopped since 5Ds came out, but I am confuse. Which cards are legal? Is there an official card list, is it the same as duel links? Where can I look up the rules. All I see on their official site is just current banlist for the og TCG.

Interesting to see how speed duels have their own special skill and cards that arnt in duel links(yet anyways). I do want to see where speed duels will go when they reach the gx era.

as much as i like speed duels... i don't like that you only can use "Speed Duel" marked cards :-/ i mean some cards are dirt cheap as regular cards but quite expensive with speed duel logo. Therefore my friends and i use our old Twisters / Deadalus / Yomi Ships instead

Thanks for the catch up on Speed Duels know I just wish I could of seen you two play a Speed Duel & wish I could understand Custom on Dueling book.com (because I try to build then it will say Not Allowed within my Extra Deck monsters.)
