My favorite tournament moment is probably my Exodia win. I had a random deck to start out that has exodia in it. The dude super cut my deck, meaning taking it apart to like several smaller stacks and putting them back together. He debated cutting one more time, but didn't. Because he didn't, I somehow managed to pull a 5 pieces of Exodia in my first hand. The dude almost cried. It was hilarious because I knew it'd NEVER happen again.

mango coot58 I hate to be this guy but in a 40 deck that runs 1 copy of each part you have a chance of opening exodia .000008% or 1/7896090. I wouldn’t be mad, I would be honored in a way knowing I actually lost to such an unlikely scenario

Went to locals for the first time earlier this year. And as hard as I tried to keep an eye on my trade binder and tin, some of my shit was stolen anyway. Not sure how, but I guess some people are just really sneaky. So that incident, combined with the general unwelcoming "energy" and snobbishness, I won't be bothering with locals anymore. Casual games with friends is good enough.

The people that were playing at my locals (back in 2014) were all running Lightsworn, OTK Cyber Dragons, Utopia, Fire Fist, and Exodia decks. In was 12 playing against 20 and 30 year olds and at first I was running a Blue Eyes, then moved on to a Lightsworn deck. We were all serious players. One guy actually went to YCS.

This is the perfect video to have been posted. My group of friends just planned to start preparing for higher level of yugioh. We have been going to locals for around 6 months and we are thinking about trying to go to locals next year. So I have a question. 1. How long do you need to practice and learn roughly before you move to the next stage? And 2. Is it a waste of time to go to nationals just for the area and people?

So one question. How do I find a local?
@134f1n47r33
@134f1n47r33 3 жыл бұрын
A good start is to look for a card shop or board game shop that's not too far away. You may need to be prepared for, like, an hour's drive depending on where you live. Once you've found a shop, try visiting it to see if they appear to be equipped to run events. Do they sell Yu-Gi-Oh cards? Do they have tables? Do they have a side room with tables? If they do, ask the employees if they run Yu-Gi-Oh locals there at all. If they do, find out when and if they're regular and such. The card shop nearest me does Friday night magic and other events, but not Yu-Gi-Oh locals. The next closest which is about a half-hour's drive away does have locals on Fridays and Sundays at around 6pm. You can also sometimes found out this information if you check a given card shop's social media accounts such as Facebook or Twitter if you either don't have regular travel freedom or are an antisocial scrub such as I was. Also, arguably the best and "easiest" way to find locals in your area is to make a friend or coworker who happens to like Yu-Gi-Oh who happens to know a shop that runs locals. That's what I personally did, but method 1 should work too.

I beat pure dracos with cyber dragons yesterday. but I had probably the best possible hand and this dude didn't have the best field but it was fairly decent. I'm a noob at yugioh. I just play FTK/OTK decks and phantom knights with a rank 3 spam engine and some unusual tech cards. I dont know what it takes to build a competitive deck but I just don't like playing what everyone else plays when they just want to beat every deck (meta) because I don't want to be like everyone else. I want to be that random dude that offsets tournament outcomes with that odd ball deck. That's my mission. is it possible?

the royal improvisers no, you can show up to any regionals (in the world, in fact). I'm from the UK and had a friend who got an invite to the NAWCQ by topping a regional while he was on holiday :')
