I love Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal! The character designs, the episodes, the protagonists, the antagonists and the voice acting is pretty great, especially in the English dub. This was my favorite anime when I was 8 in 2014 on Nicktoons, a.k.a, the Golden Age of Nicktoons.

Zexal is Yugioh dark horse. You never realize how good this series is until you watch it more than once. It's story is concise and it feels like a story from start to finish except for the don thousand ass pull at the end. Nash vs Yuma is probably one of my favorite duels period

Regardless, while Yugioh does have its fair share of very complex villains, mainly in 5DS and Zexal, my favorite villains in Yugioh end up usually being the ones that are super insane and sadistic like Yamis Marik and Bakura, Vetrix, and Yubel. Vector for sure, but he just happens to be complex unlike the others I just mentioned.

I think it's a Photon Dragon thing for Photon Transformation as it happens with ALL of the Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon variants (spoilers if you somehow haven't seen this next part) considering N62 Galaxy Eyes Prime Photon Dragon uses a full on runic sword being thrown in the summoning animation (I think the sub is the cooler version of the summoning, btw)
