I read the mangas years ago, one of my favorite things from it was, toward the end of the tournament (I think) theres a couple panels showing one of yusuke's fights, then the next page is just a blaack box with white text that says "Everyone else we know wins their fights and moves on" lmao

Urameshi being a smoker just sheds light on the realism Togashi wanted to convey at the start of his career. Not to mention the fcked up backstories and undertones present in the characters of the story. I wish more anime/manga did this these days, not all heroes start as one and their lives most certainly aren't supposed to be sunshine and rainbows before and in between development.

Oh wow, I thought this video was short but, nope, time just flew right by. This is really interesting. Especially because there's more to Yusuke being dead, though it's understandable why they chose to cut out a lot of the fluff. Though I do like Kuwabara's outfit during Genkai's trials. Shows why he decide to use his sword to hit back the fireball. Dude's a baseball fan. Yu Yu is a tough anime to say "watch the first 3 episodes, if you don't like it then skip" because the first 3 are so wildly different than the rest of the series. One Piece, DBZ, Sailor Moon, those are kind of "yeah, you get the idea". But, with the manga, you can kind of see why. I wonder if there was going to be a different direction originally, but pivoted to be more shonen-like.

When i buyed the first 2 volumes here in Brazil i was surprised on how many things are different but not at the same time and how all the trials were cut to get to action fast, i wish the trials were animated bit who knows, maybe in a remake one day but i love both the manga and the anime

I think it would be really rad to compare the Pokemon Adventures manga to the original Pokemon video game. Unlike the anime, the manga is a complete recreation of the video game plot. It following the adventures of Red rather than Ash.

Yes. Togashi draws some of the villains with a subtle realism, especially Elder when he is first shown. Seneui also has a pretty creepy design in one panel.

If I was to be honest I do prefer the manga a lot lore since I love how good it it, a lot of people have not read YuYu Hakusho which is a shame. It’s getting reprinted every year I have 5 volumes to go which is from chapter black and three kings arc.

I FAR AND AWAY think the manga is far superior to the anime. the pacing, art.. it's all super good! the cut 'Ghost Files' (one might say) of the early manga are so fun, and made me cry multiple times, so it's such a shame that they were cut out of the manga (the tanuki and Kana stand out specifically to me.) the only scene I can think that's improved (up to the end of the Rando arc, as that is the topic of the video) is Kuwabara at Yusuke's funeral. I highly recommend anyone who loves Yu Yu Hakusho to read the first arc in the manga, the emotional storytelling is great. also, generally speaking, the really bad pacing of the Four Saint Beasts arc is completely absent in the manga, thank god. Generally speaking, the best thing about the early anime compared to the manga is most certainly the more screentime for Kuwabara in my opinion!

Oh you are in for a surprise, despite what most people (who have not read the manga) say, the anime adaptation is just as bad as many other battle shonen adaptation from the era. The filler and padding the anime has is actually quite insane and it really just makes the series in general way more dumb in a lot of moments. The anime almost feels like a fanfic honestly, specially so if your only exposure to it is the dub.

Yeah, so I'd basically watch an episode and then read the corresponding chapter(s) and take notes on blatant or subtle differences. It really increases the amount of time it takes to get THROUGH the material 😅
