If the girl you're seeing is worth it, she will respect your interests, like Trell said, whether she enjoys YuGiOh herself or not! If she makes fun of you or looks down on you for it, she isn't worth your time because if she can't respect a fun and simple hobby she probably doesn't respect a lot of other things. I'm a geek and got my boyfriend into YuGiOh, yay me!

Shohiko My girl is not into it, but at the same time, she never says anything negative about it either. YuGiOh was the only card game I got into as a kid. I've played Pokemon, but never got the hang of it. But, YuGiOh is easy, so ot stuck with me until the GX series, but last year, I have regain my love for YuGiOh. My woman knows I am a gamer and it's in my nature to like things such as anime and all of that kind of stuff. She prefers me being happy instead of me being one of those guys who are always serious and stressed over everything. Lol

My girlfriend is actually encouraging me to play again, even if its been far too long since I have. She will randomly buy me packs of cards and seems interested in how the game is played. She thinks it is great that I have a hobby that I can use to relieve stress. She even seems open to the idea of me teaching her if we ever actually had the time to do it. Over all I'd say I've found quite an amazing, understanding girlfriend.

I'm just getting back into Yugioh, and it is crazy how much its changed since i first played 8 years ago! My girl friend of 3 years is learning and dueling with me all the time. When i told her I was going to start playing again she was happy and wanted to try it out for her self, we both have fun evolving and playing our decks better and better, that's all that matters! Great channel, awesome topic! :)

I am the same way. me and my wife have grown a lot closer from beating the tar out of each other and editing our decks. I've taught her everything from the proper breakdown of a deck and how to properly build a deck stradegy and combos while still staying as close to 40-45 cards as possible (depending on deck style) I'm more of an aggro duelist so I keep like 4-7 extra monsters so it equals out my useable monsters other than possibly drawing all spell and traps with some monsters only used for special summons but are otherwise useless. I have a Cyber Dragon Archetype which I've laced with a lil special ingredient. so far I've only lost twice out of at least 100 duels by now. both loses were OTK. but with the prices going up on the CDR structures I expect my deck may have a weakness found soon but I doubt someone would consider adding what I have added to it BC essentially its a deck with two archetypes. one game may seem like cybers another game you may see nothing but my other archetype. I may rename it the Jeckyl&Hyde deck style

Charles Clark It has changed alot. I started playing YuGiOh when the first season anime was introduced and stopped playing after the GX series came out. I stumbled across YuGiOh again last year and realized how much things changed and I told my girl I'm going to update all of my decks and start playing again. She doesn't ever get angry about it because she knows the type of guy I am. I love anime, games, and all that kind of stuff and she has been with me long enough to not be bothered by it at all. He is right, get the girl first because once she knows you well enough, once she is hooked, she wouldn't leave you over YuGiOh.

i played yugioh in highschool and my best freind had his girlfriend who knew he played yugioh before they got together. they ended up getting together and lasted a long relationship. i graduated 4 years ago now and my wife found out that i used to be into yugioh and play it on playstation and have a small collection. she found all this out and didnt even flinch about but instead saw it as a whatever thing and instead when i said i LOVED blackwings she looked up what blackwings were and lets just say that now i have a full competitive blackwing deck. my point is. girls will accept you or they wont. if they dont then they dont care about you and what you like bottom line. theyll accept it if she loves you. bottom line.

I definitely relate to what Terrell is saying. I use to play when it first came around and was super popular in my local shop. Fell off during high school because I played varsity football, basketball, baseball n became a lot more social with friends... The typical stereotypes that comes with that. And during college partied a lot and grew to know a lot of people. But during all that I still was friends with my ppl I played yugioh with, collected comics with, and played video games. Every girl I dated once they got to know me they would see I had a stack of comics and I would show them my old yugioh cards I use to collect. They never found it weird they actually liked it or would laugh(not in a bad way). It’s deff how u present it to them and how u present yourself! Plus since I went from yugioh fanatic to big football player I became really diverse and could relate to a lot of ppl. Message out of this is do what u enjoy n don’t be embarrassed

My girlfriend is willing to learn the game, so I am going to teach her and we will be playing together for fun... She will not be giving any money to get more into the game but not only does she have no problem with me playing, but she is willing to play with me for fun! I am pleased :)

You gave some good advice for guys :) (this is coming from a girl) The biggest thing is to just be yourself and if she doesn't like that your into Yugioh and it bothers her, then don't change yourself for someone else. Believe me there are girls out there who are into Yugioh, I grew up with it and I still try to keep up with it. I have the opposite problem though, most guys my age 21 I hang around with aren't into Yugioh haha so I cant really hobby duel anyone

honestly though, just stay confident and do not let those types of people get to ya, when i got back into playing this game, i have told a few girls about it when they asked me what i have been up to of recent, they applauded me for having some confidence and not being stuck in the closet. if people laugh at you for this game, then they are absolutely not the people you are to be near. unless of course certain circumstances you have to, such as school projects or relatives

My girlfriend at the time wasn't too big on card games, but her brother was, so she happen to be open to the experience. I taught her how to play, and she was even better than her brother before long. An acquaintance of mine dated her sister and wanted her to join in, but he didn't quite know how to play and so I taught them. Before long, I have groups of at least 8 people at a time playing Yu-Gi-Oh and they'd make the best kind of spectacle out of beating me. There was nothing more wholesome for me. We'd hold our own tournaments. It was a lot of fun.

I have a girlfriend and I'm big into yugioh, I was nervous at first but when I told her she didn't mind. Then I wanted to get her into it but she was nervous so I started thinking about what she likes and I had the perfect idea. She loves that "Steven universe" show and I knew about the gem-knight archetype and I told her about it and she loved the card arts and once she got a handle on the rules and how to play she loves the game a lot. We play together a lot and she even went to a few local tournaments with me and did pretty well

I find it very therapeutic. I played when I was a teenager. Took it up again last year, as a 24 year old, 25 now, have a girlfriend for the last three years, told her recently I've gotten back into it. She wonders where all my money goes to. I find it very therapeutic again though, I don't go out drinking as much, I spend a lot of my night planning strategies that no child could ever comprehend and I think its a great thing. I have a bit of an horrible idle mind and this keeps me busy. She might never know the extent of just how much I've rekindled this love though

I've watched a couple of yalls videos (I'm southern in reference to the y'all statement) you guys are on point with majority of what y'all talk about and debate. beat yugi channel I've seen so far that isn't just random openings with exaggerated excitement even though most are sellers and not looking for specifics to compliment their personal decks. I don't know where you guys are based out of but I'm from Mississippi and planning to compete in my first local in 4-5 years. on topic of the video I'm one of the duelists whom actually got my wife to successfully get hooked into yugioh after I stumbled across my old collection in a shelf of an old dresser I had stored. needless to say my collecting and playing has been renewed (to my surprise with xyz, synchro, and now pendulum summons. I quickly caught on to xyz and synchro summons but would be cool is if you guys did a video for the old school duelers who have picked up their decks again after all the rule changes and new summonings to explain how these summons are successfully executed and how the effects work and etc. game on bros

I don't understand why people are ashamed of their own world view and tastes... Yu-Gi-Oh is legal and harmless. When someone asks you - tell them, I don't see why you should pick "the right time to tell", or care enough to ask someone's opinion about it, it doesn't matter if it's a boy, or a girl.

Present it to a girl in the right way and if she's worth your time she'll at worst tolerate it. I've talked to girls and my hobbies were not what I was thinking about, but she said she offhandedly mentioned that was interested in trying because it looked like fun. I've met a number of girls like that, who are interested in trying out hobbies ranging from card games like Yu-Gi-Oh and MTG, to role-playing games like D&D and Dark Heresy. If people are your friends, they'll go out of the way to excuse your oddities.

That's a bangin' title! Very clever! Anyway, I think Trell has some great advice, and I kind of want to give my own spin on it. This all definitely just depends. In my senior year of high school, a group of us just dueled all the time (girls included). We would duel in class LOL. And there were people that said it was dumb. And there were people who thought it was cool that we had a hobby. A bunch of girls just asked us to teach them how to play. Video games are the same thing. Some people like it and some people hate it. And many video games (see FIFA and Madden and 2K) are rated E for Everyone. They're also for children. So it is essentially the same thing (I have opinions on the difference between card games and League, but that's a different argument). The game itself isn't the problem. It is how you present yourself. For me, winning and losing isn't the end of the world because Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't my life. And I don't let it control my life. If you present yourself as somebody who cannot stand losing a game, then of course people are going to think you are a child. If we are talking specifically how girls view guys who play Yu-Gi-Oh!, I would say that it just depends on the individuals involved. Just my two cents. Cheers.

It's true confidence works just play with a idgaf attitude but also show that you're having fun, one time I was in a small class of 8 and I busted out my synchros. Everyone gathered around admiring the artwork and remembering having cards when they were younger and they wanted me to teach them. And p.s two of the girls were fine 😎mhm

You right asf bro; can't be negative n insecure about positive things you care about. Someone was playfully making fun of me in class and the banter began to switch to who would win in a fight. At the peak of the moment when everyone thought we were going to fight, I pulled out a junk synchron from my pocket and pretended to summon it just like they so in the show. Everyone was in tears and now whenever someone asks me about it i just tell the, straight up. It's never awkward and I usually end up making them laugh. Girls and boys whoever

Yugioh is a great game for an adult though. As a kid I taught many other kids how to play, but as an adult, its a great thing to teach a kid. Have something fun for all ages. And I sit there and wait and make them read the cards and.....I ran out of patience with the math, but I should let them do the math too!

I would just like to add that it was actually me and a friend of mine that got into Yugioh during our early teen years. Eventually both of us became jocks, no one would ever have suspected us playing Yugioh, but the thing was that we loved Anime alot, and Pokemon was boring to us, Magic The Gathering was really boring to us, plus the style of it was just super ugly and Yugioh seemed to have given us that rush like our sports but it was relaxing, n it was in that anime style that we liked. Eventually we met up with another guy who was a baseball player, a total heart throb to women, and he saw me and a couple friends playing Yugioh and started secretly joining us, he got really into the game like I did, we started out with absolutely nothing and ended up buying expensive ass decks in order to play competitively. So I mean anime first is a good introduction into Yugioh. But what I think is bad about Yugioh is that you got pay a shit ton of money to play competitively. I mean my Yang Zing Metalfoes deck cost me about $150, and that's cheap, but to other people, they're just like fuck that. The cheapest competitive deck that I think we've had recently was Monarchs, that deck was like $60, cus even ABC's will run u up to about $240 just cus of the Pot Of Desires, cus unlike Monarchs, frkn ABC's don't have that nice draw power. Pot Of Desires went down to like $60, so I'd say ABC's will cost someone around $180.

Its all about the delivery. Usually (at least from what I've seen/experienced) I see people who have shelled their personality. In my opinion, being embarrassed about playing it gives whoever you're showing or telling about yugioh more of pessimistic view of it. I used to play then got back into it and stopped and started again as I'm sure you all have as well, but in the process I meet a woman and I've been with her for 7 years now. By all means we are not ugly people.... There's a few things you need to learn to do as a whole. Be more outgoing be less of an asshole and mainly, understand that in every single one of us there's a little secret that we all have. Yugioh was my little secret and my girl actually plays it with me. Kinda cool but the most important thing about yugioh is that its a getaway! I play to stop hearing her talk all the time lol

Dude when two people are in love, they love you for you. They'll accept who you are and accept what you like. It goes both ways. And if it didn't then the relationship wouldn't work bro. Your future woman won't care what you like, she will support you my dude. And maybe if she is cool enough will play a game or two with you. But if she has a problem with it, then she has a problem with who you are, which is unacceptable. You'll see in time bro, always be yourself. Dont let someone else define you, you be you. :)

I don't even understand why this is considered to be a problem. There are a lot of "nerd" girls out there, girls who play Yugioh or just like anime, games, comics whatever so they won't judge you for it. Even girls without those interests will support you if they're a good one, and really at the end of the day it's just a test to prove if you are compatible or not.

Luckily, I have a girlfriend that has had some fun playing Yugi with me and with some of my friends. She's not into it enough to put the necessary energy to really get the grab of the game, or build her own deck, but she still is not only understanding, but participative, which is great. But it's not the only example I have. I think the main road between a girl and her chance of playing Yugi is the anime community, and the main obstacle is the social enclosure the yugi community can build around itself in some cases(and the need of an investment).

Back in school, my friend and I started a Yugioh club with the library's permission because there were too many yugioh players that didn't know how to play and wanted to know. I got many year 7s (12 year olds) telling me that they were finding yugioh difficult to understand because their maths and english skills weren't up to scratch but the next year they were telling me that their reading comprehension and maths improved greatly thanks to playing yugioh and basic arithmetic was something they could do very quickly now. On the flip side, in uni, my friends are okay with me playing and sometimes they play me for jokes using my decks but one or two just absolutely think it's bollocks and stupid even though they're happy with things like hearthstone etc. How do you think I should go about convincing them that they should give it a go before they bash it? You made a lot of good points in the video so I bookmarked it :P Also about girls, I remember once I was scanning through my little chaos dragons deck in the library when one of my closest friends at the time (female) walked in and sat next to me. She asked me what it was and the more and more I explained "oh it's a yugioh deck, you know the game is complicated and full of maths and art that I like, there's also a huge variety in both archetype and strategy" etc. etc. She just laughed more and more and wouldn't stop teasing me about it during that year. Also there was one prick that would walk past me every time I was playing and just scream "Yugioh!!!" in my face and run off...

I usually have to justify why I like yugioh to people and saying "it's just a game I like to play" isn't enough, however saying "hey it's better than drugs and alcohol" usually shuts their cake holes.

I'm like Trell in the regard that I don't fit the stereotypes at all. I'm a hiker, foodie, horror movie enthusiast, and I have a 1/4 native American gf who is cool with my fandom. I also party and help my friend out with his gamertubing. But yeah, I used to live a double life with Yugioh and all my other fandoms. I just got tired of hiding it and now I'm just like "Fuck it!". Btw your kid's advice is on point 💯

I totally agree with that. My girlfriend found out a couple months after we started dating. She was cool with it. Now 14 months of dating she started wanting to see it and learn to play. But she wanted to learn, I dont think you should force them to do anything or watch. There has to be a balance in it.

My fiance just knows Yugioh as just one of my things I like to do with my groups of friends. She has seen me play it but doesn't know anything about it and does not have an interest in learning it. It is just like any other hobby in reality, she likes to sew and I like to play yugioh. It is a good deal!

Yugioh tought me basic math and what I would call semi-advanced language. So when my teacher asked why I'm using words the rest of my class mates, I would say "Cause I play yugioh." And now that I'm older and I don't know anyone that plays, I'm kinda made fun of. But then I'm beating them in any or most stratagie(?) games. So even if they aren't a girl, don't respect someone who won't respect you for playing the game.

I understand this is an old vid but I'm a recent new subscriber and I've been watching tons of your vids and I felt like replying to this video. For me I'm in a HIGHLY mega drenched magic community like my local comic shop only does magic tournaments granted they sell all kinds of cards but magic is the most predominate, now I'm sure that there are other Yu-Gi-Oh players in my area because my local stores like target and Gamestop not only sell cards but they do drop in stock but man it sure feel like I'm the only yu-gi-oh player around. Fun fact I actually was a heavy collector as a kid I almost had a full collection of the first 2 sets ever made like I'm only maybe 20 or so short but I stopped shortly after the green set came out/during the battle city ark when that was new. But last summer I saw a couple of starter/structure decks at target and I was so drawn to them that I started buying and playing again with my girlfriend and while she's the only one I can play with it's still nice to be able to play since I hardly got to do that as a kid when I was more into it

Omg I love the advice my girl plays with me cause it's one of the only the only things I do for entertainment and when I duel myself she seems to think I'm not paying attion to her when that's not true at all and I plan to show her this video cause I agree with everything u said, of course even though she true to argue I don't I just keep calm and try to explain that my attion is on her and not the cards I'm just trying to learn my new for locals but Iove this video and if she really just playing for me only then there's really no need for a deck for her

when i used to date my wife before our marriage. used to be into sports/drugs stopped them both and told her im going into card games cause i used to love it when i was a kid and it became a grown up competitive thing also the ppl youll meet there mostly are nerds and weebs so i wont get any bad influence from em. sorry abt nerds and weebs part but its true honest their awesome though i respect em cause i cant be one wish i could. also another reason i picked yugioh is cause there wont be lots of girls involved. i get hit on by girls alot not bragging its actually annoying also bothersome to get rid of, tried lots of stuff nothing worked. now shes happy about it and she agreed n bought me sleeves + mats. im gng back to the gym though to substitute my sports urge.
