agreed, it sucks that poorly designed archetypes ruin already existing ones making use of some what generic cards within there own archetype, and because the other cards are new konami wont ban them because they still have more £££ to make the only thing they can hit is the older cards there shockingly designed archetype can abuse. I feel like a couple of formats ago even baronne and apo werent broken enough to be banned since making them both and then some more interaction would have been too hard, but snake eyes means those cards are more broken. could be wrong on that since that was when I was only just getting into competitive yugioh.

@@Heroism4499Tbf, that was the POINT of masochist. To show that most of the cards on the banlist could be unlimited tomorrow and it wouldn’t change the state of the game because powercreep is so bad. Despite being the more interesting tournaments, the ones where a deck enabled by the banlist changes takes the win (*coughMasterPeacecough*) are actually the exceptions rather than the goal. Also, because Joseph actually curates the decks that get played, you can be sure there will always be an interesting variety of decks to be seen.

Talking from experience, I do get why demand would be there for these tournaments, however, I think the reason why there hasn't been one for a long time has been that it's just run its course now. I played in the last one (I was the Dark Warrior Orcust Pile Dude) and pretty much that one was stated already to have pretty much every single card that could come off (even with stretching others) come off. It was meant to be the grand "hoora"/finale if you will because pretty much unhitting any other card would break the tournament, or push it far enough into just an unrestricted/unlimited tournament where there's no point calling it a Masochist Banlist Tournament anymore.

I think instead of Diabellestar, realistically, it should be Flamberge that gets banned. The OCG shows that if you don't outright kill Snake-Eyes, it remains a tier 0 megathreat, esp with Azamina coming up. There can't be a world where we have this deck remaining, with Azamina coming.

It’s like Konami can’t commit to a banlist philosophy because it limits future design and puts them in a box like “if such and such card is banned for this reason then why are you printing essentially the same thing again?”. Honestly, I came to realize that fiendsmith is just the next incarnation of engines like orcust with mermaid, halq, or verte. The funny thing is we keep banning these engines only to print a better version of it a few months later. If konami hasn't learned from design mistakes from over five years ago, they never will. We know that splashable engines that only require you to make a generic link 2 for powerful disruptions is a mistake. Knighmare mermaid is still on the banlist for a reason

​@patrickschweitzer4978 links problem is that how they slowed down the game was they made you mess with link arrows, but the problem is almost no one cares. They were a response to limit pendulum. All it did was limit pendulum and give every outher strat 100 different splashing cards to combo with. You don't see people playing more than one to 3 links at a time, and most link1 and 2 have a down arrow that can build.

The issue is that now you don't have to think about spare extenders because regardless of level you just make a link. Extra link was a dumb mechanic, and limiting every other deck in mr4 (until they changed it again) was dumb. It barely affects pendulum anymore and now the game is even more powercrept than before. Link was a mistake.

The problem is they made a game where you never want/need more than 1/2 maybe 3 links at once out, because you can just link climb with your extra zone. So yes, link failed at what it wanted to do. If they instead had focused links as something more deck specific, where there where not any individually strong links, where they had to rely on outher links to work, it would have either slowed down the game, or people would more likely have ignored links because outher decks where faster and could do more.

As a Yubel player, Phantom should go to 1. That card is insane. It’s handtrap protection, it’s a monster negate, it’s free link material, it opens up the cross sheep line for pretty much free, it’s basically free to make, and it does all this while being an inherent summon. The fact that the card has no summon limit built into its card text is ridiculous for how easy it is to get 2 Yubels into grave.

While this is correct, it also kills a really fun deck called Generaider Yubel. Why else is spirit of Yubel a level 9? To make it synergize with Generaider, of course!

@@Ragnarok540 I also used the fact that it's level 9, but in my case, I played it alongside 3 Tenyi Spirit Adhara, which was a lvl 1 Tuner that doesn't use your normal summons to either go into Baronne as an omni in Master Duel, or Dis Pater as an extender and negate in the TCG.

Yea it should have been 1 summon per turn, and you can still recycle it with throne too so in the grind game you can still utilize it more than once. The amount of times I make one to protect the field and then later in the combo just make a second one to be a link material😂

Since it summons on resolution, removing either of the targets fizzles it. Besides, it's unfair to just hit Unchained because Yubel uses it well as an engine, since Caesar is getting hit anyways.

because flamberg is only hard onces and without it, snake eyes actually still function. if you are gonna ban a revival card, then ban rekindling and reborn spells too. i made it master rank 2 without flamberg in snake eye in master duel. made it to top 100 in Dueling Book without Flamberg in rated play. SO banning Flamberg does litterally nothing. Ban Ash, or flipside, ban Poplar because now you cant hardly extend into anything at all

Unfortunately I think it will take a fundamental change in design philosophy to truly "fix" Yugioh. A list like this might make the current format better, but formats like this have been happening more and will keep happening because they keep printing hyper consistent one card combo decks like Snake-Eye that play through everything and/or lock you out of the game entirely on turn 1.

​​@@rescuerex7031I mean, the cost is part of it (a part that'd be 100% fixed if they made common and foil versions of all the powerful cards), but another issue is the gap between 1 absurdly powerful archetype being printed and the next one coming in. It's actually too far apart. If there were 3 or 4 archetypes around the same power level (this includes upgrades that boost older archetypes to those levels, although those are rarer) printed in the same banlist time frame there'd be less complaints because the format would be diverse instead of a new t0 coming in right after the last one got banned.

There's nothing wrong with the way snake-eye plays if they can't build a field that prevents you from being able to play the game. It doesn't require a change in design philosophy, it just requires them to stop printing generic boss monsters that can be shat out en masse or negate multiple times a turn.

i played the deck on master duel without flamberg and it still can power through everything else easily. just have to be a bit more creative. as for playing no Ash, that actually hurts the deck more cause you now can not do 1 card combos that are broken. yes poplar and flamberg are strong but when you see that Ash litterally gives everything.. but to fully kill you need flamberg to 1, ash to 0, and poplar to 0 then the deck finally dies

A High Caesar ban will absolutely kill D/D/D forever since that monster is the reason you play the deck in the first place. But then Konami comes out with broken ass cards like Sharvara or super splashable insane engines like Fiendsmith, and suddenly everyone has access to D/D/D's best boss monster and it's way easier to summon with those tools than within its own archetype. Honestly, just errata High Caesar and Beatrice's materials to require D/D and BA monsters. It changes nothing for their own archetypes and it takes them away from the Fiendsmith engine or whenever Konami decides to print another broken LV6 Fiend engine

At this point, the only way to properly “FIX” Yugioh would be to announce Yugioh 2 and declare everything prior to the announcement as a Legacy format. There's some cool design space in summoning to your opponent's field (outing Imperm or Evenly, giving attack targets to monsters that can't attack directly, archetypes like Mimighoul, etc.), but unrestricted summoning anything to your opponent's field is where degenerate strategies come in. It should be restricted to archetype cards only and/or negate the effects of that monster.

People always manage to come up with some degenerate shit. Also, I don't view turning off boardbreakers/HTs as a positive thing. As much as I despise cards like Evenly/Lightning Storm, the game is now being designed around the fact that these cards exist (to a certain extent), so disabling those cards and taking away some of the only ways to maintain your will to live after losing the die roll (no pun intended) doesn't exactly seem healthy to me.

Let me explain why Gimmick puppet is fully interruptable and no hit to it is needed. 1) Droll always ends their turn 2)Ash blossom on Rouge doll (and not the field spell as it is incorrectly used) always works cause the field spell only protects the field, if ash is resolved against Rouge any combo will be mediocre and there is no ftk 3) Imperm on Fantasix always works even if the field spell is out 4)If you don't have the field spell any other handtrap, even a veiler, counters the ftk... One can say that a card like crossout should get hit cause it allows decks like this to have an answer to all the above, but a deck that loses to all that isn't banable in my opinion

Yeah, don't think the deck needs a hit yet (not just cuz I play it but cuz it can be fragile and I find 90% of my games pivot to handtrap control then kill on the crackback. I do often win but not via the field spell or ftk). When we get Fiendish Knight (and the game's power level drops a bit) the deck probably needs a hit and, knowing Konami, will have half the deck banned to sell Malice. But until then the absolute most that should happen is something small like a limity to Number 40 or the good rank up to make some lines weird. Anything more is overkill as the FTK deck often ends on 2 interruptions, handtraps, then OTKs instead of FTKing.

Imo the snake-eyes hits you suggest don't really hit the deck it the right way. The deck is like Tearlaments unless you hit it in the right way it just won't work. Ban flamberge that severely hits the interaction and combo potential of the deck without ending it since it does have another boss monster in "snake eyes diabellstar" ( the card, not the deck). Other stuff is pretty on point, though. But I will say that a big problem with this and the last format is the shear amount of graveyard interaction. It might be time to put "called by the grave" to 2 or 3. And before you say it, I don't play branded... I play ashened.

I don't like how Fiendsmith is a requirement just for any given deck to be playable in the modern day. It makes every deck's gameplan linear and ultimately arbitrary; it doesn't matter what you're running, it's still just Fiendsmith in a trenchcoat. That whole archetyoe has got to go, along with the massive surge of power creep in recent years that's just plain unsustainable in the long run.

The problem of Fiendsmith Engraver being a secret is that konami probably does not want to hit it so people buy the product, but in an ideal world where konami does not care about that, I think limiting Engraver can be a consistency hit to the Fiendsmith engine while still leaving it alive. There would be more choke points and its more telegraphed, Bystials would become way more impactful against this engine banishing the one copy of Engraver while also avoiding banning Ceasar so decks like Unchained or D/D/D can still make it or at least have a powerful payoff if the Fiendsmith engine is not interrupted, but Beatrice has to go.

As a D/D/D player if Big Caesar gets banned I’m gonna be so fucken sad. Like I understand how its accessibility in other decks is problematic but without him my D/D/D deck is pretty useless. My argument against banning Caesar or Apollousa is that with these in the game it means most decks don’t auto lose to Nibiru. Nib isn’t that great against Snake Eyes cuz every fucken card in that deck floats but most other decks don’t have that luxury. Since no other hand traps work on it, I think having cards that can interact with Nibiru is necessary

@@6210classick the version of the deck I play can end on a board with Big Caesar, Machinex and Siegfried with a set Headhunt and 2 Dark Contracts. But with a small Fiendsmith package (3 Engraver, 1 Requiem, 1 Sanct) you can bring out Big Caesar on the 5th summon to protect yourself from Nib and then combo off. And ideally you can end on a the same board as before but with 2 Big Caesars instead of 1

If you open both swirl & necro it makes it in 3 summons, otherwise there are routes to make it within 5 summons for nib. Personally i can’t advocate for it being banned not because I play the deck, but because I see the problem here with it is NOT the caesar but the fiendsmith cards themselves. It’s only a problem because the FIENDSMITH cards are so splashable and don’t lock for some god knows reason so I think those should be hit anytime before caesar. Or if you do hit caesar, unhit him once you decide to actually ban the problematic cards that are the fiendsmiths. Like it already has a restriction on summoning it that only like unchained was able to actually take advantage of, idk why people keep advocating for it being banned when the clear issue is the splashable engine that lets any deck make the card in the first place

The most frustrating part of yugioh is how uninteresting it is to run almost half a deck worth of generic hand traps and still get one card combo'd into oblivion turn 1/2. I loved the way you did your personal banlist, to be completely honest. As someone that only has Master Duel as a source of Yu-Gi-Oh! "gaming", I have this Evol deck that uses "the Diabellstar Engine", A.K.A "3 Diabellstar, 1 Wanted, 1 ~ 2 Poplar and 1 Optional Ash" and I can vouch the fact that having the one copy of Ash is already good enough for the deck. All I need is Poplar setting OSS, linking it off for "a Link 1 of your choice", activating OSS on Poplar to summon the Level 1 Evol monster and, if I have another Evol and/or Fire monster in hand and/or field, I can set up a board of 5+ interruptions in the form of Singularity into Lars and/or Laggia, at least one Dolkka and a Link 4 of my choice, usually Pyro Phoenix into Zealantis. I have a replay where I was learning the deck, bumped into a Supreme King board that summoned Knightmare Gryphon in the Extra Monster Zone and that should've been functionally impossible for me to chew, and the one Diabellstar was enough to win the game on the spot, because I just had to play around a singular zone, bait some non-destruction negates and do a Link monster of my own so I could play with an extra zone, dismantle their entire setup and having enough for the crackback to literally destroy an attempt to Pendulum Summon 5-ish monsters with the Evol part of the deck. Ever since, it became my second or third pet deck, with Magikey being my top 1 - unironically able to play the Fiendsmith engine once Pity, a Level 4 LIGHT Fiend Normal Monster, is in the game, as well as having Mafteal as a Level 4 LIGHT Fiend Tuner that only stops you from using it as a generic Synchro and XYZ material, anything and everything else is fine - and Voiceless Voice disputing the next spot. I'm resilient enough to understand the power of the Snake-Eye cards and, if at least one of the mentioned cards has to go, then I'll do whatever in my power to see this game slightly more playable, even if I have to give up on one of the best engine and/or main cards my deck is able to access into. Just like the remaining playerbase, I'll just have to figure something out on my own, I won't complain about losing "my card" because of how they're played outside of "my deck". We need at least two players to play the game, and I want to face more players other than myself and a Level 5 AI that doesn't know how to access their Extra Deck when they Go First but can totally rock your bottom rear when they Go Second, being vulnerable to a nearly unbreakable board for them.

As a Dino player it really sucks that the generic extra deck negates keep getting banned with nothing to replace them. Link Kuriboh was always integral to my set ups for Evolution Pill. All the new dinos they introduce suck or are way too complicated to slot in, and there are practically NO dinos in the extra deck. This is why I've been sticking with Master Duel. The TCG keeps hitting the only cards keeping my deck competitive

Im gonna be honest, ive seen it for years now: people are so unwilling to see the actual problem card go. People hated DPE but loved anaconda with it when it was anaconda that needed to go for example. If alot of decks are abusing the fiendsmiths to push out beatrice...then beatice isnt the issue, the enabler is. Sure it helps some decks that are bad play, however so does beatrice in a wayy more fair way.

The problem with Apollousa is that it's polarizing in how hard Board Breakers like Talents and CoH can deal with it(and the rest of the opponents' board) giving it that ability to be an instant win if you make it on someone unprepared for it, or just as much of one if it gets stolen by someone who is, making it too swingy. I think the whole point of the Continuous Trap Floodgates being 1 ofs is so someone on Pharonic Advent can finesse their way into specific ones AFTER seeing what the opponent's up to. They're not meant to be shoved into random decks to sack their way to victory, but considering how awful so many Yu-Gi-Oh players are at the game even at its higher levels, I shouldn't be surprised at how often they get reduced to those things.

Snake eye ash isnt the problem its just a stratos, poplar is the problem. Ash wasnt even being played before poplar released. If you ban poplar, what does your snake eye ash even search; birch? Also without poplar, bonfire becomes a rota instead of an e-tele and the deck just becomes much more vulnerable to handtraps, for example if you dont have poplar for original or the field, you cant really play around nib and at max your snake eye ash gets you birch into moon which is basically a joke.

It's not even close to being like halqi. It's a card that only fire deck realistically can use (yes it's 3 different named cards, it doesn't have to be FIRE, but there's just better at that point). As a card itself is just on the verge of being slightly more on the strong side of the spectrum, but is very balanced. With Droll, Maxx C, Shifter (at 2), Purulia and Fuwaross, you can technically play 14 Floodgate handtraps in the OCG. Purulia is in the side, but seeing the top decks maindecking floodgates because there is 0% chance their first turn goes uninterrupted is absolutely dreadful

Balance decisions should not take into account archetypes from 10 years ago or your personal favorites. The only cards who needs to be in the banlist are pot of cupidity, floodgates and cards that make you win the duel (victory dragon etc) other needs to be check and errata. 2 - Unban Electrumite, master peace, zoodiac, scarecrow samurai (i dont know why this shit card was put in the banlist) and all weak cards who are in the banlist. Release Banner's cards "Chaos distill" (google it) 9 Use more the semi limit section. Fenrir, super poly, Called By, Diagram, Infernity launcher, Naturia sacred Tree 10 - Player needs go to the shower before a tournament 11 - Make better video game and animes

I only have two objections, and one is moreso the mentality to Gimmick Puppet. I 100% agree that the field spell is too much, but what I don't agree with is that GP shouldn't FTK. It's in their design concept. If there is one deck that is hard built to have alternative win conditions, it's GP. Whether its Leo Alt Win, Chaos Leo Alt Win, or Burn FTK, they are designed to just work that way. Shouldn't be a deck without chokepoints though. Also, I am a stern believer that King Calamity never did anything wrong, and Crimson Dragon should be banned. The entire lifespan of KC it has been only relagated to gimmicky KZbin combo videos and its hard summoning condition has been more than enough of a deterrent. Up until that giant glowing noodle came along and said "This is treated as a Synchro Summon". Either that, or if KC gets banned, it needs to be errata'd to say "Synchro Summoned on your turn". It's supposed to be a game closer by disabling interruption and dealing 4000 minimum damage every time it attacks. Not a goddamn turn skip card. Yes, I'm a Red Dragon Archfiend player.

These are the 2 worst takes I have ever heard. Of course deck diversity is important, but the quality of the games is way more important. Oh great, I get ftk'd. Guess I didn't draw the out. An ftk should never exist, no matter how bad the deck is. Especially if it can accomplish that ftk with ONE CARD. Also King Calamity is absolutely the problem card. Crimson Drsgon is not the only card thst can cheat it out and cards like Etude of the branded (searchable by bystials btw) can Also summon it and lock your opponent. It would be fine if it were designed similar to raidraptor ultimate falcon, but the sad truth is that it isn't.

Crimson Dragon is a cool card that theoretically gives real versatility to the few decks that can reliably make it. King Calamity is only being used for exactly one thing in the modern game, and that's turn skipping

​@@competitivetrash7660 Bro FTK's have always existed throughout Yugioh's history at varying levels of consistency. Nobody plays them though, because they are too bricky. "Guess I didn't draw the out" can be compared to literally any situation in Yugioh, it's a card game. Now I do agree that playing into someone's board feels better even if it the game outcome might be pre-determined if both players play optimally, but that doesn't mean that you have to play whack a mole with every deck that could potentially FTK. The main problem with Gimmick Puppet is the consistency at which it can do it (in part due to the Field Spell) and the fact that they are immune to monster effs (due to the field spell).

@SeveNStarSeveN They can do it with one card even without the field spell. It is far too consistent even with a field spells ban to be fine. They should do a hit that directly stops the ftk. Ftks shouldn't exist no matter what.
