Also as an extra thing, often times these decks are only made playable by later support, which can be at high rarity. Trying to pull 3 Welcome Labrynth is already expensive enough, but you also need 3 Secret Rare Ladies and 3 Ultra Rare Big Welcomes, from separate core sets with even more secret rares and only 2 per box, for the same price.

Yugioh is there JOB or at least the main theme for it. Do you really think they can just NOT accept sponserships from Konami? “Oh but even if they say don’t buy packs they’re still advertising,” no not really. They’re showing off products and outright saying the product is bad and use alternative ways to get the product. With 6 rares per pack and only 35 per set, they get boring fast cause you pull duplicates instantly, especially with only 3 ultras per box. And I opened up 10 cases (120 boxes) so I would know. Terrible ratios. Only positive thing is the collector rares look gorgeous. I miss the old sets, they aged much better.
@FacetiousEnigma

I can't imagine how much more accessable the TCG would be to new and budget players if good cards weren't short printed and pull ratios weren't awful in boxes of cardboard that cost as much as 35 McChickens. Its incredible that a card like The Bystial Lubellion is worth $60-$70 in the TCG, $18 in Korea, and $30 in Japan despite OCG printinting quality being significantly higher and OCG rarities looking better. It doesn't help that online simulators like DB and Omega offer the entire card pool for free. This leads to players feeling apprehensive about investing in cardboard especially considering the steep prices for good decks in the TCG. Why would some one want to give money to a greedy company knowing they've intentionally made it harder for you than their homeland for no reason?

And they'll keep getting away with it unless their bottom line really starts hurting.

I never understood why Ultra Rares were as hard to find as they were. Trade them to people who already have a bunch of that card and are just missing the harder to find Ultra Rares of the necessary archetype?

That's the point. It's to force every player to effectively buy at least 3.333 boxes of every set (and that's being very generous, assuming that there are 2 other players who each want to play the other 2 archetypes from the DBP, AND no shortprinting.)

Thank you so much for creating this video. What sucks too that these archetypes, regardless of playability, could just be in main sets. So here’s what upsets me: What exactly is the method by which we as a community change this? Konami’s business is centered around its ownership of an IP and by the nature of that it has a monopoly over who can print cards and host official tournaments for the game. This alone is why i think copyright as a whole is a fundamentally terrible idea, especially in a modern age where taking old ideas and adding onto them or making them fresher is just becoming more common. But because Konami controls the printing of cards and when tournaments are held, and because people are willing to pay thousands of dollars just to go 4-3 drop halfway across the country to getting anti-spell flipped game 3 with a baronne protecting it, there will still be complete idiots buying product at $4.50 a pack when the packs aren’t worth even $1.50 a pack. Furthermore, stores have a problem functioning without it, and local stores are absolutely not a business I want to get caught in the crossfire. I haven’t purchased any product besides the megatin in over 3 years and i know that it hurts the local store, but I try to buy singles from them a ton to make up for it because boycotting the product is the ONLY WAY to make them change. Konami will keep getting worse until their box sales and YCS attendance rates drop by 30%, and 30+% of Yugioh players aren’t willing to plan a coordinated attack like this. Everything you just said is true, but to what end?

I remember the first time I got a box of one of these and was like "hey where's the 4th ultra" and be told they only give 3, which makes it feel pretty bear bones. It is pretty bad how these are on average 3 ultras per archetype, from which you often need 3 ofs, and they get mixed in with 2 other archetypes and you wouldn't be looking for. In addition I never would trust Konami to not shortprint something as I remember the pull ratio of Nekroz of Brionac back in the day. Even the core sets. I dislike the way we lost rares and are drowning in commons. If, say, they turned 2 common slots (maybe even 3) into rare slots, they'd make rares not be harder to pull than modern supers and not turn commons as worthless. Then with all the deck-build pack stuff they could probably combine them into the TCG main sets and have the 120-ish sized set balance the rearrangement of ratios.

The highest exclusive printing is Ultra Rare, and MANY critical cards are printing as Super Rare, or even standard Rare. The TCG gets boned in every way regarding pull ratios due to our rarities.

Small correction on Collectors Rares: They do not work like Starlights, you pull 1 roughly every 2 displays, not every 2 cases like Starlights. Considering the bad Ultra pull rates that doesn't really make a huge difference though. I think that Konami basically has to up the pull rates for Ultra Rares, at least from 3 to 4, but I think they should just straight up double it to 6 per box. Otherwise there is just no chance in hell to ever build something off the current DBP's. Earlier ones at least had very few ultra rares (back then secret rares) of note in general, meaning you could often build 80-90% of the decks from 4-6 boxes (shortprints aside), but right now that is just not possible.

It's not just a money back thing, it's a product value thing. When someone buys a set, they should get enough product to justify the money spent. With these modern deck build packs you really can't get any decks from them without spending 100's of dollars. Older deck build packs did let you semi easily build decks from packs, even if it was the weaker decks from the set. A pack called a deck build pack should help players build a deck. Plus we also have the ocg where these things are priced at $20 each.

@@MonkeyFightTCG The problem with the "it's gambling" argument is that they already have an element of gambling in the set by making 10-15 of the cards Collector's Rare. There's no reason the Ultra Rare pull ratio should be this abysmal if they already have CRs in the set. You can have an element of gambling that makes players want to buy the set while also making sure players who spend enough are able to build the decks from the cards they pull out of the boxes. I bought three Ancient Guardians boxes the year it came out, and two of those boxes were quite cheap at a reduced price ($40 I think?). I ended up getting 2 copies of TiSolfachord Beautia, 1 copy of the remaining URs, and no copy of the Ogdoabyss, the Ogdoadic Overlord. So in three boxes, that was nine ultra rares, and I still didn't have enough copies to build any of the three decks. As MonkeyFight points out, it shouldn't take 10 boxes just to get enough URs to build a deck from the deck pack.
