I know you're mostly joking, but I absolutely love these types of things in BG3/DnD. It's basically implicit storytelling because it telldnyou the character actually did believe the lie, and just needs a small last push to be completely convinced. And on the contrary had the DC increased, it would've meant whatever you said made them suspicious.

Orphans from hell that are hated and kicked out of everywhere, that's what they are. But their voice is a children's one just not the words.

I bet the though process behind this at Laurian involved some imaginary players debating with a DM about not getting what they wanted despite succeeding on the first check. The DM tries to say no again in-character, then a player shouts this and makes the DM laugh, prompting a second, practically-free roll.
