A rarity, and a moment of joy, introduced by the pianist's words, in Mexico City on October 6, 2017. There are very slight differences from the score (which is a transcription). The most remarkable is the intervention of the violin!

' I just learned it ' and it's the only time I've seen Yuja reading sheet music. What talent. I love the raw emotion and the dance elements she bought in. It's not always about perfection, I love this rendition above all.

I’ll say this.. Mrs. Wang is amazing, probably one of the most technical and talented pianist I have had the pleasure of running across. She is not one to bring music on stage with her, this means this might as well be sight reading. An excellent performance, so stop trying to critique every little thing. This performance was remarkable!

I agree that criticism shows a lack of insight. Sure, there was less accuracy than we are used to seeing from Yuja. This is obviously a piece she rarely plays. However, the interpretation was very good, and her enthusiasm infectious. There are only so many hours in a day. Yuja's repertoire is extremely wide, but she should not be criticised for, sometimes, not being fully conversant with every piano piece ever composed.

Today, in her recital in Korea, she played this song as an encore and it was really amazing. I think some critics are right, because she can do much more better than this. Not everyone just blames. Some might can hope her improvement.

What is your comment trying to say. That you don't like her playing here, because she made a much better performance of it in Korea? To me it sounds like any strangeness in the music is in the piano and/or recording, not necessarily the playing.

My impression is that she had played through it a few times, and was generally familiar with it. However, she had not yet thoroughly learned it (which, even Yuja cannot do in a day or so). The muscle memory was not there, and she needed the score to remind herself of where each of the partially learned themes fitted in. I understand that she has subsequently fully learned the piece, and now plays it as accurately as everything else.
