Yuju’s taste in music has definitely changed, when she was younger she wanted to show off her power vocals, always belting and doing crazy vocal acrobatics and in gfriend she was in charge of doing the belts/high notes just like what she used to want, but over time she mentioned how her favorite genre shifted from ballad to hip hop and she came to the conclusion that singing isn’t a competition and ever since she’s been more focused on the emotional aspect of singing rather than the technical one and now we see that from her as a soloist, none of her songs have had “high notes”, rather she’s focused on the lyrics and melody of her songs as well as keeping them in her comfortable range
