Masachika was original successor to their family, but after he left, Yuki became the next successor. Masachika is considered to be a disappointment by his grandfather (head of the family). Masachika after all of that started to hate whole Suo family and doesn't want to be involved with them. So they keep it a secret because it's unpleasant topic for him.
