Yuyuyu is Symphogear + Madoka. The girls are wonderful, and without spoiling, the story tackles disabilities in a way that isn't insulting. Takahiro is smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. Yes he made Akame ga Kill. He also wrote Samurai Flamenco's script. The man loves his toku. Toku, Mecha, and Magical girls all share this connection, and it is BEAUTIFUL. Go outside of your comfort zone and give this show a try, you won't regret it one bit.

The first season for nothing betrayed the genre magical girl (Although I do not consider them magical girls but I consider them heroes) Better than Madoka and the other Magical Girl series of today. I'll stick with the old ones and Yuki Yuna.

If you love Puella Magi Madoka Magica, you will probably also enjoy this anime called 'Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, (YuYuYu in short or Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero in EN) along with its other seasons. It's a dark magical girl anime, but they are called "Hero" instead of "Magical Girl", you could say YuYuYu is much more balanced when it comes to its dark elements. Many anime that tried to copy Puella Magi Madoka Magica's dark elements failed miserably, but YuYuYu is a successful one. Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru are my top dark magical girl anime, they are both Top 1 for me. Oh, before I forget, YuYuYu also has amazing soundtracks like Puella Madoka! (≧◡≦) ♡

Even though it is one of the dark magical girl anime after Madoka popularity and obviously nowhere as good as Madoka but I really enjoyed this one a lot personally. I also like that this one still shows heroism and friendship between the cast since for some reason lot of dark magical girl really want to be edgy which not only things that what made Madoka successful.
