Well done, keep up the good work ! Thank you for your making a vid for the passenger side. Everyone makes vids on the driver side but that’s the easy side. Thins is a good approach for an AWD application.

Great video, I am in the process of replacing mine at the moment on my 2010 tahoe ls 4x4 with 217,000 miles on it. Driverside went pretty smooth. This passenger side though is a pain. Finally got it out struggled to get the new in. Motor was jacked up as far as I could go, starter out, dipstick tube out and exhaust manifold heat shield is out of the way. Finally get it back in and then struggling to get the 4 bolts into the block. I got all of them except the bottom right so far. I also removed my fender liners too on both sides. Mainly for extra room to work but to also look at all my wiring in there and clean up what I can. Also while doing these mounts I replaced the knock sensors on the sides of the engine block not because it needed it but because I wanted to.

I always do the passenger side first so you get more movement from the broken driver side mount. Everyone does the driver side first and then they sit there and try to get enough flex from a brand new mount. I'd like to say it's common sense but I've been a GM master tech for 50 years strong now

Would it make sense to do both side simulataneously? Like remove the 3 bolts on both sides, then jack the motor up and get both mounts off and back on?
@ThatGlock456 ай бұрын
Looked like it was easy to pull and put in than my driver side I did today, couldn’t pull the steering shaft - to much rust lmao

I feel that- got my steering shaft to bum down but wasn’t going to come out - driver side sucks!

Awesome tips! 😎👍 I tbink I can do it on my own with this video. Did you have to put the truck on jack stands? Did you need more than one Jack? Do you recommend replacing the transmission mount too? Do the mount bolts need Loctite?

Any thought on separating the mount from the plate/heat shield while it's still in the engine compartment, making it easier to get it past the starter?

I thought about that but felt like i was going to have an issue installing.

I have a broke motor mount on an 04 6.0 escalade awd and the long bolt is gone. Does anyone know the size?
@michaelotten63345 жыл бұрын
After all this, would removing the exhaust manifold make the actual remove/replace easier? New gasket, new collector oring would be needed, but seems like it would give all the room to pull the mount? I'm about to tackle this on 2009 Suburban 4WD LTZ; every gizmo in the way of this job!
@JaboTheMechanic5 жыл бұрын
It would make it easier but since we are talking about exhaust bolt you might come across the bolt snapping off with the studs. You can reuse the exhaust gaskets
@michaelotten63345 жыл бұрын
@@JaboTheMechanic Agreed, both manifold and the collector. I'm thinking better to loosen those while engine is hot...kevlar arm socks ready...lol

Lol. For the driver side is a walk in the park for the passenger is a tight squeeze. But it is manageable.
