The sense of line and propulsiveness in this intensely slavic polonaise makes me recall Horowitz. This is a great performance.

The historical irony of strong Russian technique lending itself best to the playing of polonaises is not lost on me. Wonderful performance.

There is an uncanny, entirely fluent, no nonsense directness of expression here in Yulianna's playing without any trace of ostentation or mannered excess - just a self-assured, ever-present nobility, dignity and fierce patriotic fervor that characterizes her playing of Chopin's works. Her playing is elegant, powerful, eloquent, poetic and ever so emotionally affecting. You know, while she played this Polonaise, I stared at her countenance and I swear that for a few moments that it seemed that it was not Yulianna Avdeeva sitting erect on the piano bench, but Frédéric Chopin himself! This reaction on my part is supported by one of the comments right below mine, here in this video... You will notice that 2 years ago Marekczekanski1519 got the same impression when he states: "The most perfect rendition of Chopin's deepest intentions! If She were His incarnation, I wouldn't be surprised." Notice that this commenter capitalizes "His" because Chopin is arguably the God of the piano. Well, certainly Avdeeva has an illustrious career ahead of her. Her rubato playing is as captivating as it is intriguing. About an hour ago, I was mesmerized by her powerful interpretive output in the E-Minor Piano Concerto here on KZbin. Yulianna Avdeeva immersed me totally in a colorful outpouring of jewel-like quality with her performances on KZbin!

WONDERFUL< WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE.I have been a fan since Chopin Competition. I have questions unrelated to the content though. about 2 months ago I was constantly searching for this piece on youtube to watch all the different performances but this video never came up. and its impossible for me to have overlooked it because I know Ms. Avdeeva and for sure I would have watched the video if it had come up. But today, this vid suddenly shows up on my youtube home. Whats up with this issue?

...Because too many pianists get up on that stage to *play the piano* (or themselves, or their technique, their emotional dramas or whatever).... Yulianna Avdeeva gets on the stage to play CHOPIN, which is a kind of patriotic poetry executed on a piano. She uniquely gets it.
