It's not referenced in the Japanese version at all. Inklings start turf war at 14 years old, however Agent 3 would still be 16 two years after the original game.

@@yumes_studio I looked into this In the wiki and your right, but mostly everyone is confused by this because they have said things confirming my comment, that 4 is older than 3, ones that say otherwise, like it never being said and 4 never hearing of the squid sisters, and the creators themselves are just confusing, so the only real confirmed ones are Marina and Pearl (maybe some others that I don’t remember).
