I purchased a California avocado from Pavilions today. I asked the Produce Manager what the difference between the two avocados in the store. One was double the size of the other. He suggested I purchase the California avocado (larger one) that it was creamy and wouldn't turn brown. I tried it. It was so good! Best part was it didn't turn brown! I intentionally mashed it up and left it in a bowl on the counter for over an hour. Looked like I had just mashed it. I can make guacamole for a party and it won't brown. Yay!

Hass are normally the best vintage HASS I bought a giant hass (perfect taste) I planted the seed it's all ready 6ft tall after 2 years :) my sister stole the plant from me

I'm from Venezuela. There you can find different varieties of avocados. Even in my parents house we had a avocado tree. Each was like gigantic ones. But not much flavor. The king of the flavor was always the long neck local avocados. Tall tree and not that big fruit but the flavor wow what a difference. Here is the states the Hass avocado is a joke. No taste. !!!!

Hey guys, if you review what you’re putting out, you’re going to see this is a pretty lamo video. I think what you’re trying to do is promote GEM as a tasty avocado. I Imagine that it is. Did you do a taste test? Did you taste it at all? Or did you just promote the research station in Riverside? The lady that’s in the video is probably very knowledgeable. But why does the title say the tastiest avocado ever? That’s a very misleading title. Try to get it right you guys are a big organization. I’m sure you can do it.

Good question. If they are available at all they are hard to find. For some reason some of the commercially available varieties are not sold to home owners. Reed might be a good alternative, good big fruit and even excellent looking semi-dwarf tree where as most avo trees are not very attractive.

JUST came available at Golden Gate Palms Nursery, Richmond, CA. Some 30 or 40 small trees, they tend to be pricey there but if you really want a particular varieties as I do what's the point of investing a decade in the wrong one. Good chance they won't last long there.
