When she grown up, she left her home village and went out to sing in a night club. Daolang found her and then she was trained systematically in singing. Most of her song were written and composed by Daolang, like 'My Loulan', 'Sheperd' and 'Yunduo (clouds)'. I, also just recently find her in KZbin, and enjoy her singing.

I just read that Yun Duo is from Sichaun Province, was born in 1987. Her music reflects such depth, historical appreciation, wisdom, sincerity, soulful passion. She's amazing. I keep trying to determine her musical roots, Tibetan, Mongolian, Ancient Chinese folk music? I'm from Texas, so really don't know much except that Yun Dou is great, one of the best young singers since Teresa Teng. I'm committed to do all I can to spread Yun Dou's music to my friends in the US. Blessings from Texas.

Yun Duo had studied singing and music with Dao Lang since she was a teenager. To understand her musical roots, you would need to understand Dao Lang and his music first.

I just learned about Yun Duo, recently. She's amazing! Her vocal range, control, power, soulful expression are balanced by beautiful, enchanting tone. She's beautiful, elegant, classy, enigmatic, charming, truly lovely young lady, great artist. Is she Mongolian? Her music sounds Mongolian to me. Many thanks for introducing this remarkable, great singer to a 64 y/o Texas cowboy. Blessings and peace, from Texas. I'm one of Yun Duo's loyal fans for life, now!

Thank you so much for this reply. I've wondered if she was influenced by Tibetan folk music and history, or even Mongolian. As a Texas cowboy, I'm still learning about historical and musical roots of the varied cultures of China. What I do know is Yun Duo is an amazing singer, with remarkable vocal range, power, soulful expression, as well as enchanting beauty. I hope she becomes world famous. Her music is like fresh air, far superior to the shallow contemporary pop music in America.

Thank you for sharing Yun Duo singing. I practically just found her charm in her song: "Wǒ de Lóulán 我的楼兰 - My Loulan" in 2013. Since then I pay more attention to her and really enjoy her majestic voice. She's simply fabulous!

You Duo’s voice belongs to a high-pitched category, powerful and craving when sings with force. It is uniquely exquisite, distinctive and natural, instinctive enough but well articulated. When she sings loudly or exclaims, audience can hear clearly, feel the strength in her yearning and longing, aroused by her call, stirred by her rhythm and follow her emotions high or low - sweeping. You could be inspired and despaired. When singing low tuned moody notes, though tender is hers, you will be touched, moved and empathic to her enchanting, resonated with her sentimental presentation. When she stretches her notes and vocal, you will be easily dredging into her lingering, embraced by her sound. It is a gifted voice, beautiful and charming, attractive and fascinating, descriptive when murmuring/narrating. However, please don’t overly perform further higher pitch continuously or else it will be turned into yelling or screaming like the western Rock and Roll style.

agreed with your connoisseur opinion. I had also been deeply impressed by the song "Love is me and you". Seen the tv footage abt how Dao Lang (re)wrote the song and went out for coffee break and came back discovering Yun Tuo had managed to vocal tune the lyrics.

I am not a special fan of Yun Duo. But I do like her singing and some of her songs."Love is me and you" is her recent love song style. Do you feel there is a trend in Yun Duo's art development? From a native, innocent country girl’s singing, to an obedient trainee under/behind/influenced by Dao Lang (with China west rural and religious color), followed by performing within the Communist control, then widening the scopes of her art by searching/trying different kind of songs (like raps and love songs), getting more independent to her individuality of love presentations…. Too bad, though I can read Chinese, I am ashamed that I could not type Chinese to express myself better. Anyway, I am glad that someone out there has the same opinion on Yun Dao as me.

It's nothing related to western Rock&Roll. It's the singing style of Qiang ethnic group, which Yunduo belongs to. Actually, not just Qiang, many other pasturage-based ethnic groups in the world have similar singing style with much high-pitch. But Yunduo is the best singer I've heard among those people.

Certainly, Yun Duo does not belong to the Rock & Roll groups though both of them can sing powerfully or vociferously. Yun Duo is much more a native type of emancipation human emotions while Rock & Roll style sounds like a mutation of out-bursting of human frustrations. That’s why I described her singing as “calling”, “yearning”, “pleading” or even “hankering” instead of Roll and Roll’s “yelling”, “screaming”, “howling” or “blaring”, though both of them could be in summoning. One is from “in response” aptitude, the other seems from aggressive instinct. True, it is important that how the artists handle their tone in singing and presenting.

To Lpmpato1 It is hardly to say she was influenced by Tibetan folk music. In China there are 56 ethics, and she is from Qiang, mainly located in Sechuan province, foods over there are popular here in US. Sechuan province borders on Tibet. Qiang people, like Tibetan also is good at and enjoy singing. When appeciating Yunduo, we should mention her master, Daolang. From her self-introduction, Yunduo's Mom is a farmer, whenever her mom is working in field, she likes to sing. to be continue....
