Yo I knew Pinch in Highschool! Skated with him a lot, and he was literally the nicest dude ever. Genuinely cared about his crowd he was with. He would freestyle whenever he wanted too, and it would hype us up so much. Glad to see him up there! Miss this dude, he’s so far in the business I wish I can reconnect with him.

@@ProdbyGrimeyred it depends on the deal you sign..if you cant control (never sign)
@ProdbyGrimeyred4 жыл бұрын
@@carrymedz5792 nope. The deal u sign is 1 of 2. A 50/50 deal or an artist deal. In both deals the label is the obvious distributor. So they control when u drop. You have to sign a marketing and promotional deal with the label to keep control. Only a few have been able to do this because of their independant following.

Man this dude made some great records one of my fav artists forsure
@bradley09302 жыл бұрын
He should've dropped his independent albums as mixtapes instead. Album sells are counted as units sold, which creates a sales history. He was already poppin on multiple online platforms, had developed a huge following, and had cosigns from a few major label artists. When he went in to sign a deal, they're gonna sign him, and give him a pay advance based off his sales history from the units sold off his albums. If he would have put them out as mixtapes, and didn't have any kind of sales history. He could have went in, then just showed all the views/plays he had through all of the online platforms, plus, he's been on tour with all these big artists. The record label would've then had to pay him based off of respective sales, which is basically the average amount that an independent artist with his following is making to sign a deal at that time. I REALLY feel like, if he had done it this way, he would currently be at a much higher level in the industry! **Full Disclaimer** I am a huge fan of this man, and I'm not throwin salt in any way by saying this. I just see how heavily my man is slept on, and I know that understanding the industry, and the way it works is how we end up with these people that have SO much less talent blowing up. Then, they end up in these elevated positions in the rap game, makin stupid money. Meanwhile, people like Pinch that are 100% original off the rip, with a one of a kind sound and just unbelievably talented yet he's out here being referred to as "underground"! Smh

How could giving up royalty’s ever be considered a good deal?

SoFo King you always have to give up a percentage of royalty, there isn’t a single big rapper that has 100% of royalties.
@F305864 жыл бұрын
Ryan McPhee bullshit
@edwardroberts39824 жыл бұрын
It's the best way to go because labels will find every excuse not to pay royalties. The best way way is to take a lower royalty rate in exchange for a higher publishing percentage. Ownership or 50 percent of your masters with the option to purchase the other 50 at a later date for a set amount. And most importantly a buyout/release clause in your contract such as you have 120 to release a single 365 to from the day I sign to release a album. On the 366 day I can request a release with all advance money forfeited.
