“Like I don’t know who needs to hear this, but people who are drunk cannot consent.” This sentence is so perfect. He says it like the damn fact it is. And like he’s surprised people don’t know that already. I’m surprised too dude.

He dedicates this at his live gigs to 'everyone who felt their choice was taken away from them' and he's really passionate about the message behind it. If you can you should watch his Brixton Academy live gig to get a feel for the passion he puts into his art. Keep the Dom reacts coming Steven! ❤❤❤

I have never felt so safe as in the moment when I saw this song live and before the song Dom gave a speech to leave your problems and trauma in that venue and that everyones safe there and so many people held each other. It was beautiful

This is such an important topic and I’m glad there is this young man out there to write about it and this way raise awareness. As a mom to a teenage girl, I’m thankful to him as someone who has a fan base who can relate to what he sings about and pay attention. If it can have an impact and disgusting behaviours like this can be avoided then good for everyone. I’ve watched a couple of his live performances of this song and you can totally see how serious he is about it and the anger on his face. It truly comes from deep inside of him, you can feel it through the screen. And by you sharing this reaction on here for your followers to see, you are passing this message right along, thank you for that. He’s a wonderful person, from what I saw in a few interviews I watched. I actually found out about him by clicking a thumbnail of an interview thinking I’ve heard of the name before and didn’t know who he was, he looked like an interesting character and it drew me in. I fell into a rabbit hole after that and watched quite a few more as I really enjoyed what I heard and discovered I like his music.
@AmalaFrequents3 жыл бұрын
I always appreciated how this song wasn't calling out the glaring obvious style assault but more calling out your own friends or people you know and being like- hey if they are drunk they cannot consent- it's not okay, but it's a pervasive culture. And it also emphasises how it is not your fault if you are drunk like that and someone takes advantage. It's a more nuanced form of culture that I think doesn't get highlighted enough- especially posed from the perspective of being one of the guys almost- it's not 'scum die' it's 'mate do you not see what you are doing here???' whilst also crying out in the chorus because of how devastating it is.

I’m a much older fan, BBC AMERICA GRAHAM NORTON SHOW IN JAN. got me to LOVE HIM! I have someone I’ve never met that made black heart earrings... I’m wearing them now, and now a new fan in NJ, I’ve never met, making YB doll! In 2 months exactly I am totally in! Message me if you are interested! I’ve given 5 pairs away, already! I’m near Chi town !

I'm so happy you reacted to this track. Yes, it's not the style of Yungblud that you love, but it's an important part of his history as an artist. He's always been an advocate for these types of issues. And the lyricism of this track is so clever as well. "Absent on absynthe" is one of my favourites I think.
@LC-ip1cj3 жыл бұрын
This song lyrically is one of my favourites of his. He writes story telling lyrics so well whilst also being really clever about it. It comes across in a way that really shows that he cares and thinks about what he’s writing about. The way you said it’s an ‘important part of his history as an artist’ is such an amazing way of putting it, it really is :)

I had just started to get into Yungblud last year, into stuff like Weird and Cotton Candy and Strawberry Lipstick that were more up my alley, before the whole album dropped, but when I would listen to the older stuff from the first album, I wasn't really a fan cause I have never been much into hip-hop type of stuff, I would say that Polygraph Eyes was an exception because of the message, but the more of the newer stuff I heard, and the more of a fan of Dom that I became, the easier it has been to listen to the older stuff and just love it equally, because even though I'm practically his mom's age (I turn 49 this July!), I feel like he is one of the most authentic voices I have heard in a long, long time. And I am so here for it. In a few short months I have gone from someone who decided to check him out because my spouse loves Halsey and they did 11 Minutes together, to a total BHC Card Carrying member, 100% obsessed. 🖤🖤🖤

Eboe, I got you beat! I’m a young 71 in July, and in 2 months adore YB. 2 BEATLES’ concert and adored Boy George in the 80’s, so I needed Dom, now! Everything you said is right!I thank God for BBC America 1/15 and the Graham Norton show, “Cotton Candy” and that personality and ACCENT stole my heart!! I have his pink socks on right now, and custom black heart earrings on after by someone who also now likes him because of ME! She’s a young mother, I’ve never even met! Dom is a positive diversion WE NEED NOW!

I happened upon a live TikTok video from a year ago, right after the 1st lockdown of YB. He was singing his songs, and got to “P. Eyes” and before he started singing, he preached vociferously of what it means and to shout and tell friends if someone is forcing you into this situation! You, sounded just like him! He said on an interview that when he was younger, he ‘didn’t get it,’ so it hit him hard when he realized!! They can drink at 18 there, don’t forget!

I appreciate that you like this song and understand the message. It's scary that he has seen things that inspired this song. I have experienced those things.
