Yunnan Coffee's New Wave

Tea might be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of China, but the renowned tea-growing region of Pu’er, Yunnan province, has also quietly built up a reputation for some of the best coffee grown in Asia.
Large companies like Nestlé have used coffee from Yunnan since the 1990s. But it’s only over the past few years that high quality, specialty coffee has begun to flourish. MUNCHIES travels to Pu’er to explore a new coffee scene developing, right where the beans are grown.
Meet the people changing the face-and reputation-of Chinese coffee, from young farmers living in remote high-altitude hills, to American coffee specialists, and a new generation of Chinese coffee roasters overseeing production from farm to cup.

There is already so much coffee related items made in China, I'm happy they can introduce that culture in the foreign regions were money is less abundant. As a fan of gong fu cha culture, who value the size and form of the tea pots used to brew the tea, I'm sure there will be a refined take on coffee by chinese vast culinary and gastronomic culture. Sometimes, some coffees need plant milks or creams, sugar, or a pairing with fruits, spice, chocolate or caramel, or even alcool, to meet the taste of the drinker. There are various techniques to enhance a produce and as China historically had done with tea, those coffee will sure be very well developped. I'll look forward for this. Also, with historical ties of China with Indonesia, for example, we can hope for complementary flavour profiles that will strengthen the peaceful ties between the asian countries.
