My name is Mia, and my service dog in training is Arkiess. Arkiess is a multipurpose service dog in training. I am a disability advocate with very strong opinions. I believe in rights for all humans.

That's what I'm like every time I unbox service dog gear lmao 🤣 there's just something about it that's so satisfying and exciting.. And I love the color and everything it's so cool it will look so good on Arkies I can't wait to see it🥰🥰🥰

Your dad is so kind! I was wondering if you know if service dogs can work on Saturday? Can they go into the temple? I just need to know in case. Thanks :)

Hi! So as to if a service dog can work on Saturday, I understand the nature of the question and it’s up to the handler. If the handler follows “don’t work on Saturday” and wants the dog to as well, that’s fine! And as for going to temple, it’s up the the rabbi & the rest of the board to decide. My temple allows her, but legally they don’t have to.

@@AdventuresWithArkiess this is such a nice harness I love the color! I just got a new harness too. It's a white bridgeport. It works awesome but does not have the nice fun colors yup has!

@@AdventuresWithArkiess they are really heavy. My dog is big. It might make sense to use a yup instead and have a bridgeport only as a back up for a smaller dog if you do not need heavy mobility.

I just picked up my phone and this was on my screen, no idea how I got here and unfortunately don't have time to watch the video (just pointing out in case this is explained in any way in the video) but I see a lot of service dogs wearing a 'harness' and a Cape. and the leash is attached to the collar....so what's the point in the harness? pet dogs wearing a harness have the leash attached, so what's the point in a harness and Cape if no leash is ever attached to the harness? It's been baffling me for a while, like why have a harness and Cape rather than a vest, if the harness has no functional use cuz they're using a collar? is it just a preference on how it looks? When I Ave a bigger SD I intend to go for the harness and Cape setup because I've started to prefer the look of it, but just wondering if that's the only reason why people have that setup rather than a 1 piece vest?

A few reasons 1. A lot of handlers use mobility harness, or harnesses with mobility attachments, so they need a harness for mobility 2. Labeling is much better with a harness than just a collar 3.(Main reason) Attaching the leash to a collar is easier for the dog to feel where you’re walking so it heels properly. It offers better control over your dog, and you can give corrections through a collar, but not really through a harness.

@@AdventuresWithArkiess number 2 is why I want to switch to it :) number 1 was what I previously thought was always the reason, but then I started noticing a lot of dogs that have no mobility tasks or mobility related handles etc on the harness so I started getting confused lol Thanks for replying btw :)
