These were just the compulsories, where everyone is doin the same routine based on somewhat basic skills. The focus was mostly in proper technique. The optional routines wouldn’t have looked that different from what we see today. Lots of the same strength holds, just fewer of them and not in as many combinations

It's such an interesting thing to compare old routines to new ones. Like, I was baffled looking at him doing a front lever as a strength hold.

I miss seeing front levers in ring routines! I could never do one myself, I must admit. And a straight arm pull to a front lever like we see here looks great! We never see front levers anymore though, even though they look great--too bad, or at least from my "boomer" point of view!

@@King.D_no.1 Front levers weren't too easy for me--I could never do one but always wished I could. Then again, I was a weak high school rings guy--my top score was a miserable 6.75! I could do a back lever "forever," but never a front lever. As for Victorian crosses, impossible for the likes of yours truly, or any cross for that matter!
