I think a really nice touch with this story, is how the girl denies that she is crazy, psychotic, or delusional. I feel that a lot of stories like this, lose their appeal when the main character boasts about how insane they are. Because in reality, that often would not be the case. In reality, most people who are disturbed, will deny it just like the girl in the story. Their delusions become their default state of mind so they see it as, "normal". It is their reality as they see it, so therefore, they see their actions, -- even something as awful as "killing for no reason" -- as justified.

I wonder if this creepypasta could potentially be Dan giving his opinion on the current media, and how if someone found out about this death that they would want to kill for no reason. Death has now become kinda accepted by a lot of people in a form of media, such as films and tv shows. So when we even get told that the girl uses an axe to kill, which she mentions as cliche, this means she would have to have knowledge of some films or tv shows(or anything else which could spark curiosity) which involve death, which therefore could have led her curiosity. Either way, you read this really well and well done to Dan for writing an engaging short story!

The thing about the end, the "one week into her search history" got me the first time, and this time as well. I can't help but get a feeling that it was the mc of the creepypasta that convinced linda to stay alive by going over to her house for a talk. Suicidal idealization is weird like that-the smallest things can change your will to live when you suffer for it. If this is Yuri and she's 19 in the story, and Dan Salvato said Yuri's 18 years old (as well as everyone else). Does that mean this happened after Doki Doki?

This isn't Yuri. Dan confirmed he put this in as an easter egg (it was a creepypasta he wrote).

Just a reminder to everyone: Dan said that he wrote the story a couple years ago and thought it would be fun to include as an Easter egg. (Meaning it's probably not canon, let alone about Yuri) Here's where he said that: mobile.twitter.com/dansalvato/status/911627120132055040

Just finished this during my business class! Was a really good read I enjoy how you made the character feel so calm yet slightly unhinged in a way. One thing I have though is that on certain parts you would speed up suddenly on the ends of sentences then slow back down. But man overall this was really good!❤️

You have a voice that pulls me in. I am not really a fan of creepypasta reading much, but the few times I considered clicking off, I couldn't do it because I was enthralled to keep listening to your vocal range, and odd calmness as you read. I honestly would love to hear more things like this from you.

I cannot express how much I love this video. I'm sorry if this sounds like a jumbled word mess but I had to comment. I saw this video two-ish years ago and I didn't think much of it other than that it was one of the many fun ddlc secrets you have to decode stuff to get to. When I heard it at first, I was fascinated with the short story, thought it was nice that a channel on KZbin had done an audio version of it and then promptly forgot it existed. A year or so later, I saw the video recommended to me again, as ddlc was one of those things I'd lose interest in and gain that interest back some period of time later, lose it again, gain it again and so on. This was one of those time periods where I had a bit of a ddlc renaissance, watched some people playing the wacky mods, and for the first time, read the fanfiction surrounding it. So, I clicked on the video to get a bit of that sense of nostalgia back and then, again, forget about it. But as I heard the first few lines, I immediately remembered that the story was sinister in some way. I just couldn't put my foot on it. Maybe I was mixing it up with one of the fanfictions I had read or something? Either way, I found myself glued to the screen, as the video continued, not only noticing the Libitina character slowly fading in as the story progressed, but also the skill and talent of the narrator. Whatever tactics she employed to make the main character sound so normal, almost like she was having a casual conversation with you, worked really well. She didn't sound unhinged or crazy or evil in any way, yet she had a kind of casual normalcy that's almost menacing when you consider the game this is related to and, of course, the context. I know I should be thanking Dan Salvato for writing this story (and of course ddlc and the community that surrounds it, as it wouldn't exist without him), but I can't help but thank this channel for uploading it as I never would have gone to look it up afterwards. This was around the time when I was starting an orator's club (orator's club in my language just means public speaking club) in my own high school and hearing this again was one of the catalysts that made me choose to read horror stories in the club too, so I could train myself and others in the art of suspenseful reading and other stuff I won't get into for the sake of brevity. On a side note, I know that the game centering around a literature club and writing, and then me starting an orator's club is an interesting coincidence but it's just a coincidence and not really related to the literature club of the game, since I had always wanted to start a club like that I just never had the courage to do so until a year and a half ago. Anyway, this video encouraged me to go looking for the original story and having found it and saved it, I now reread it quite a lot when I'm practicing for specific speeches or pieces I have to perform. It's like a poem or a story you keep going back to because, in some weird way, it impacted you. Like, other works I go back to is Shakespeare's sonnet Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day? and The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, The More Loving One by W. H. Auden and so on. None of these have anything in common, just that I could imagine them being performed in front of an audience and getting a reaction out of them. I think, with this one specifically, the idea of this seemingly normal 19-year-old girl who's going into occupational therapy, lives in a dorm room, has a roommate, a family and a car and any ordinary thing you could need, wanting to murder someone for no specific reason other than the experience she would gain from it just really sat with me. I always remember the moment when she's choosing a method with which to kill Linda and she ends up choosing the "fun" option (the axe) rather than the quick one, as she believes it's such a movies thing to do and she only gets to do this once. The car ride where she's wondering what the actual serial killers must be thinking in the moment, whether it would be sexual build up or delusions or something, but her just feeling inconvenient chills. The apathy with which she regards the whole thing is also a bit frightening. It almost made me feel like I was watching a movie or I was having a VR experience of the steps she took to commit the murder, and I was having those same thoughts with her. Except instead of thinking wow she's crazy and I'm scared of her and so on, it felt like I was sympathizing with her. It wasn't because her personality was likable or she had good intentions or anything like that, but rather because I was imagining that all of this was real, that it was normal to wonder what it would be like to kill someone and that someone would actually casually go along with it. I was happy with her choice to use the axe because, as she said, it is more of a movies thing and I wanted to see what would happen with it, more than I wanted to see a simpler, cleaner murder. I found it ironic that she thought about what some crazy murderer would be thinking in her position, without her realizing exactly what she's doing and how she herself is a kind of crazed murderer (despite her facade of complete sanity), yet I was thinking the same thoughts as her: what would an actual crazed murderer be thinking in those moments? The key word being "actual", as both the story and the narrator's delivery were so good that you really do think she's just a normal relatable girl, she's not an "actual" murderer, she's not actually crazy or whatever. That would make it harder to put myself in her position. She's normal but just, y'know, doing this one not normal thing. It was frightening how safe I felt knowing she didn't want to murder again and it showed that I still saw her as threatening and scary, as unhinged enough to cause serious damage, yet every time I listen to the story, I root for her anyway. As though anything in this story is supposed to make you feel safe or happy or curious. The fact that she likely won't face any persecution makes this even more, I guess, easy to relate to? Like, of course if you'd imagine yourself as a murderer then you'd like to imagine you wouldn't get caught. My main point being that this video brought this story to life for me, and shows how much a good delivery helps bringing stories to life in general. It inspired me a lot when it came to my public speaking club, even if it had to shut down because of the pandemic. I know this might be a bit off-topic, but that's why GTLive had, in my opinion, a very successful interpretation of ddlc. Stephanie, one of the hosts of GTLive, has excellent voice acting skills and incredible control over her voice. She voiced Yuri, Sayori, and Monika within their let's play of the game and she did an excellent job with each (although Sayori seems to be her fan favorite voice within the game). But I want to focus on Monika, when I think of Sayori or Yuri, I think of them having different voices than the ones she employed for them. But when I think of Monika, Stephanie's voice comes to mind immediately. I think that's because her voice for Monika was so normal, yet calm and collected, quite poised, a bit sophisticated but not as sultry or unique as Yuri's, even when Monika laughs she laughs a mature, calm laugh befitting of an older or wiser woman who already knows everything, and she always has a slightly intimidating atmosphere as she's thought to be too perfect and unattainable. That tangent aside, the reason I wanted to talk about it is because I realize that while this story was in Yuri's character file, I was imagining Monika writing it. I was imagining that the narrator was Monika and that Monika had committed this murder in the same cold-blooded nonchalant way she deleted the other characters in the game. I don't know why I brought up this specific point, only to point out that Stephanie's performance of Monika left such a mark on me that that's probably one of the only reasons I imagined the narrator as Monika, even though the very video has Yuri's name on it and Libitina's picture fading in. And because I imagined Monika's actions to be, while immoral, ultimately justified considering how she was the only sentient character within the game, I felt I would have done the same things if I were in her position and when I imagine her doing something else immoral, as I imagined her being the one to write this, and not Yuri, I felt more sympathetic to the story and I could imagine myself performing it. The performance of both Stephanie and now this video's narrator really shaped my opinions on Monika. It goes to show how a performance of a work can leave such a lasting impression that it encourages you to interpret the work or other works related to it in a certain way and through that it gets you to latch on to a certain piece of media you otherwise wouldn't have had as strong feelings for. Again, I'd like to apologize for leaving such a large comment, I had so many thoughts and I realized I should get them over with already so here you go. I wanted to thank the channel for this video, which might seem like just a 20min vid of a girl reading a story, but impacted me quite a lot.

So I'm deciding if this story is true or not :/ I'm pretty gullible as is. I'm about 92% sure this was made up though I feel like really stupid right now because people in the comment section are saying things like "Dan Salvato is an actual genius" and "I wonder if this creepypasta that Dan made will become canon in the future in some game" And so part of what makes me think this is fake is that this teenager happened to get a woman that meets her as a total stranger and then invites her into her house and doesn't give a crap that she's using her bathroom that's filled with duloxetine bottles. This teenager also doesn't mention she has a mental condition at all but literally for the curiosity, she's going to kill somebody. It's hard to believe somebody that has their sanity still and a clean record decides to murder without seeming to care that she'll obviously get arrested. I don't know if she's unaware of the fact that she left the body in the apartment and fingerprints are all over the body and eventually she's going to get an eviction notice on her door and lose her house for not paying her bills because she's dead. That body will literally still be there, rotting, with the evidence that this teenager killed her. Just something I wanted to point out ;-; Despite that, this story is pretty interesting. I do feel a little bit like a psychopath if I'm gonna be honest, but I do feel a little sad that she violently killed a woman that was living her life still pretty young and that was nice enough to invite a stranger into her house and talk to them. It's nice to see that this woman was innocently cooking a meal for herself on her birthday, but my thought about her being so sweet and innocent changed when she started browsing through her history and saw porn sites. It's understandable that she had suicidal history websites if she clearly had depression, and it makes me feel better about the girl killing the woman if she was probably gonna end up killing herself anyway. So that's all I have to say about that T_T took a really long time to write this lol i bet nobody's gonna see this anyway so whatever man

This story is eerily good, and the voice acting makes it 10x better. The way it's written makes the protagonist feel like a real person, not just a fictional character. She's calm and collected, and acts like murdering someone for no reason is a normal daily occurrence. Hell, with how casually she wrote it, you almost start to think the same way as her. Seeing a murderer as an actual person with morals, thoughts, and feelings is what makes this story terrifying.
