I don't know if Fiercing the Twister was worth it in Paul's case. Considering Zack had a combo piece on board and the rest in his yard. Then again, Paul possibly had the win in hand after drawing a fresh seven.

I thought Zack would have been the target of the bird because of the combos pieces in grave. And the hand I had was a breach win line with counter backup if I was able to keep my hand.

Yeah I feel like politics is what won Zack this game. He literally milled the whole combo into his yard. I don't know how he wasn't targeted into oblivion after the wheel.

It was very smart to make the deal with the Deflecting Swat counter. Ojutai could have still done enough of a chunk that Yuriko triggers could kill Zack, instead there's one less player at the table to interact with the combo and Zack can walk to an easy win.

@@PlayingWithPowerMTG Well it sure does. Yet, I feel like that was a bad deal when your opponent already tutored for his winning pieces and you have nothing in your deck able to remove that. The only way out of that situation was timetwister I think. Tormod's crypt is a good card that should see more includes I guess.

Could have; but it's a risk as it leaves him with 0 cards in hand if it gets countered

Yes, I believe he could have turn 3 and 4. Likely was holding back on turn 3 due to the wheel possibly putting fresh counters in peoples hands (which it did) and turn 4 because Nate had just put a Force of Negation into his hand from the scroll rack. Turn 5 he chose to go off I assume because of Nate's lack of cards in hand.

The opening hand of the Jeska/Ishai player proves without a doubt that they don't know how to pilot those commanders :(. You aren't going to race either instant win attempts or spot removal on ishai with a hand of nothing but mana sources. Hell, you're never going to race in these colors to begin with. You need interaction and card advantage or you're just dead. Now, he did top deck well, but the top of his deck could have just as easily been nothing but lands and he would've been sitting there re-casting ishai until someone killed him.

Would love to see an updated Yuriko list, the old turn and burn list just can’t hang anymore. The tempo list on the other hand has the card advantage to keep up.

Some nice, spicy plays but not targeting the player with the whole combo already prepared and ready to fire anytime... Also it might be just my impression and my inexperience with the cEDH meta but I feel usually there is not much graveyard hate in these decks, leaving most of the work to countering the beginning/construction of the combo

I thought Nate messed up not getting a different counter spell from Force of Negation... but the deck doesn't have another one that he could have held up besides FoW which he had spent. Question is if he should have Forced the Sevinne's or if he bluffed having force and had no other blue card/racked them away.

Maybe I’m dumb… but in beginning for yuriko, I feel like they were going slow… prolly just me being impatient but I never pass on the turn 2 yuriko play, legit free damage and draw. Even if they pop yuriko it doesn’t even matter due to how self sustaining she is.
