After watching your introduction video, you've explained it so well👏, in a pace i can keep up with, I definitely will be watching more, and spreading the word! Thank-you! Now I'm thinking 110% Nikon is best....makes so much more sense now.👍

Best tutorial ever I'm new to photography and just bought a D7200 I'm a quick learner and this certainly got me on the right track to taking photos. If could please add your link for the D7200 cheat sheet that would awesome. Also I'm curious what setting should I mainly use for my trip to Europe just a guided tour I'm doing no sports or fast action involved I will just be shooting stills
@Wyurman8 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl. Here's the link to the cheat sheet: willyurman.com/teaching/handouts/D7200Cheat_Sheet.pdf. For your trip you have a few options. Using the Program mode will be the simplest and require the least thought - the camera will try to set the best exposure possible. Aperture priority will give you a little more control. You set an aperture and the camera will set an appropriate shutter speed. You need to make sure the shutter speed doesn't fall too low which would give you blurry photos. Manual is the most fun :) but requires the most thought. It depends on how much energy you want to put into the photography and how much you want to relax and enjoy Europe.
@greencorpman208 жыл бұрын
what kind of editing software do you recommend as well?
@Wyurman8 жыл бұрын
+Carl Ward You want to think about both editing images and organizing them. Say you come back from Europe with hundreds or many hundreds of images. How will you look through them? If you're on a Mac, the built in Photo App is basic but solid. It will let you look at lots of images and do some basic adjustments. (I don't know the equivalent on a PC but I'm sure there is one). Adobe Photoshop is the 800 pound gorilla for image editing, but it's expensive. They make a 'light' version called Photoshop Elements that can most of what you'll probably want. Adobe also makes Lightroom, a nice app for organizing large folders of images. It offers some limited editing ability as well. You might get by with Lightroom to start. Hope that helps.

I'll definitely watch the rest of it later but My Q is how do I remove the focus ring? Is that what it's called? The broken lines that otherwise make a rectangle? I have a Nikon D7200 and the ring is in all the preview pictures all of a sudden. Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for this VERY INFORMATIVE video! It was probably the best video I found about Nikon D7200. I just bought a camera and was looking a good introductory video and this one is the best! If i may ask a question, how can I set up a focus for self portraiture including young, i.e. fast and unpredictably moving children? So far, everything I tried (locked/auto focus) gave me blurry results. Thank you!
@YurmanVisuals8 жыл бұрын
Fast children are tough :). I think your best bet would be AF-C. So the camera is continuously focusing. Then either use a multipoint selection so it's looking for several points at once, or use the A setting so it does its best to select something. You also need a fast enough shutter speed to keep them sharp. And a small aperture will give you more depth of field. So pick a nice bright overcast day to give you enough even light. Good luck!

How can you tell a D7200 USA magnesium body camera from one that is not. Thinking about purchasing on and I want to avoid a grey market one.
@Wyurman8 жыл бұрын
+Melvyn McKiever I'm not an expert on warranties, but my memory is that the warranty in the box will show you if it is grey market or not. If you're buying online, buy from someone reputable - B&H, Roberts are two - there are many others.

That's completely normal. Many of their lenses don't have a dedicated AF-M switch. Just make sure AF is turned on on the camera and you'll be fine. And enjoy it!

i must keep hitting something. i keep getting and X in front of my shutter speed when I'm in manual mode. it goes from 320 - bulb and i can't change shutter above 320. any suggestions?
@YurmanVisuals8 жыл бұрын
Do you have a flash on your camera's hot shoe? I think the camera won't let you set a shutter speed higher than 1/320 if you have a flash attached - that's the highest shutter speed that will work with flash. If that isn't the problem try taking out the battery and turning the camera off and then put the battery in. That can often reset certain problems.
@mrbob85498 жыл бұрын
Thank you. No, I don't have a flash on. Not even the on camera flash was on. I'll try the battery thing. I appreciate it

what lens would you recommend for landscape photography / street photography with nikon D7200? P.S: I already have a 50MM 1.8G Prime lens. Thanks in advance.
@YurmanVisuals8 жыл бұрын
Sorry, forgot to answer this. Landscape and street photography are different beasts. And it depends on how you like to shoot. The 50 prime would be small and unobtrusive and good in low light - all nice for street photography. You might look at a wider prime for landscapes. You don't need a super fast lens since presumably you'd use a tripod? Hope that helps.
